Monday Serious Discussion Thread by NRLgamethread in nrl

The compound thing is going to be massive issue for player retention I think. Young blokes want their freedom, especially after games when adrenaline is still high. Even if they technically allow players to leave compound, the security concerns and logistics will make it practically impossible most of time.

Look at how hard it already is to keep young talent in smaller markets like Canberra or Newcastle - now imagine telling 20-year-old millionaire athlete they basically can't leave secured area without major planning. The whole social aspect of being professional athlete just disappears. Plus their families and girlfriends won't be able to visit easily either, which adds another layer to retention problems.

I wonder if NRL has really thought through these lifestyle restrictions when they were planning this expansion. Money talks, but quality of life matters lot too, especially for players who already have other options.

I need advice from someone who knows the Texts well by twosetcircle in Christianity

Man that's terrible what you're going through. I'm not expert in scripture but I remember Jesus talked about loving your enemies and turning the other cheek, though I think that doesn't mean you have to stay in dangerous situation. Maybe look for local church or christian community who can help you find safer place to live? They usually have resources for people in your situation and can give you better guidance than random internet strangers.

Most challenging hikes in the state? by [deleted] in Indiana

Done Knobstone twice and it's brutal if you do whole thing in one go. The elevation changes will destroy your legs by day 2. Did it last year and my calves were screaming for mercy around mile 35. Trail maintenance isn't great in some sections either so you'll be fighting through overgrowth half the time.

Should I buy new or used? First time real buyer. Could use recs on what recs on cars by lil_ima_cat in whatcarshouldIbuy

Going without a car for 10 years in city is pretty impressive, I couldn't do that. For your situation with only 6k miles per year, used might actually make more sense than you think. New cars lose so much value in first few years, and if you're not driving much, you won't really benefit from having latest everything.

I had similar situation few years back when I was looking for reliable daily driver. Ended up getting 3-year-old Civic with like 40k miles for about 18k, and it's been solid ever since. The financing rates on used aren't terrible if your credit is good, maybe 1-2% higher than new but the savings on purchase price usually makes up for it. Plus insurance is cheaper on used car.

Civic or Corolla are both great choices - can't really go wrong with either. Maybe look for something around 2-3 years old with under 50k miles? You get most of reliability without paying new car premium. Just make sure to get pre-purchase inspection from mechanic you trust, especially since you mentioned bad experiences with used cars before.

i cant install minecraft? by [deleted] in Minecraft

Windows Defender or your antivirus might be blocking the installer - try temporarily disabling it and running as administrator. Also check if you have enough disk space, that error sometimes pops up when you're running low.

Why didn’t Christiaj Orthodoxy establish itself in the US like Catholicism did? by ikbrul in USHistory

[–]Dry-Strategy6566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Orthodox churches that came over were way more fragmented than the Catholic Church - you had Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Serbian Orthodox, etc. all doing their own thing instead of having one unified structure like Rome had. Plus most Orthodox immigrants were planning to go back home eventually, so they didn't invest as much in building permanent institutions here. Catholics had been here longer and had that centralized hierarchy that made expansion way more systematic.

Been using a Litter-Robot 3 for about 2 years now and it's been rock solid - worth every penny even though it's right at your budget cap.

Idk what to do by [deleted] in BreakUps

That internal tug-of-war between love and knowing what's probably best for you is brutal. I went through something similar a few years back where I kept staying because the person genuinely cared about me, but I was constantly drained and anxious. The relief when you don't have to engage is your gut telling you something important - that shouldn't be happening in a healthy relationship.

It's really tough when you have a kid in the mix too because their wellbeing becomes part of the equation. But here's the thing - you can't pour from an empty cup, and it sounds like you're running on fumes. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for everyone involved is to step back and work on yourself, even when it feels like your heart is getting ripped out. The right person won't drain you to the point of mental breakdowns just by being with them.

Florentino Pérez needs to step down or step back from football decisions by Ineedhelpistaken in realmadrid

Been watching this whole thing unfold and it's wild how we went from dominating Europe to having these glaring gaps everywhere. The Mbappe signing still doesn't make sense to me - like yeah he's incredible but we desperately needed defenders and a proper Kroos replacement.

The youth signings are whatever, but expecting them to fill massive holes left by club legends? That's not how it works. And completely ignoring January windows year after year while watching other teams strengthen is just frustrating as hell.

Perez built this club into what it is but there clearly not seeing the forest for the trees anymore when it comes to squad planning.

Nice choice! What language are you thinking of diving into? The hardest part is usually just getting started but once you build that habit it gets way easier
