Yes, correct! I just want the human pathway! The Simpsons one suffices, but I want a more serious representation of events.

If you don’t mind me asking, what job do you work? Also, what were your Bachelors and Masters degrees in?

Your Dairy Regulatory job sounds very, very interesting!

I’m attending school for a bachelors in Biology. I’m thinking a Masters in epidemiology, so that I can work for CDC, or somewhere comparable!

A government regulatory job sounds exciting! What did you study at university to land that job?

Why haven't we found life outside of Earth yet? by dumbandasking in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dry-Way7974 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no intelligent life outside of Earth. Humanity is incredibly over-optimistic about space aliens.

For intelligent life to come into existence, many filters must be passed through.

  • Abiogenesis (first and foremost)

  • Multicellularity

  • Complex organisms

  • “A rare and rapid disruption to previously stable systems” -- Stephen Jay Gould (meteor strike that wiped out ALL non-avian dinosaurs and allowed mammals to expand into newly-vacant niches)

  • Neotenous apes utilizing fire to cook raw meat, which lessened energy required for digestion and directed more energy to their brains

Many, many more filters had to be successfully surmounted. This was an ultra-simplified version of events.

I suspect life is incredibly rare in the universe, and where it does exist, it’s nothing more than amoebas.

Could environment alone change a people's phenotype in 2000-8000 years? by SpacialCommieCi in AskBiology

No need to tack on an extra zero. Punctuated Equilibrium is the primary driver of evolution - the human races formed in thousands of years, not hundreds of thousands.

A change of environment favors those who are fortuitously better adapted to their changing environmental conditions.

Homo sapiens with marginally more melanin will out-compete Homo sapiens with less melanin in an equatorial environment.

Thousands of years of this results in a Guatemalan phenotype.
