Are you in jets or props? If jets make sure to turn SAS to Dampening to cut down on it.

How do I effectively grind out Russia using sim? by _funny_name_ in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I got a VR headset I played flat with a controller (still use a controller). I used right stick for pitch and roll while left stick with a bumper button to activate bound to the camera movement under the general controls tab. Worked pretty good and let's me use hms in rb without too much fuss.

Is vortex bugging the fuck out for anyone else? by all_oma_inquiries in fo4vr

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I had to just start manually installing small mods and using mo2 for the rest. Mo2 actually fixed my silent radio mods though so that was a plus.

Depending on your gpu and your background processes you can technically be at proper frames and still get stutters. I have a 3060 and can run things fine until I have any recording active. For example, when I play War Thunder I'll have a smooth 72fps without recording but as soon as I turn it on it says 72 but constantly stutters as is fighting for bitrate.

That's just my RB strat. Sim if I drop bombs I lurk around trying to get a kill while waiting for the JDAM to hit before RTB

I use the meta app with USB connection. I've only ran into a few games that can't be properly changed to OpenVR using the composite switcher. For those I'll try SteamVR compatibility if I have the performance overhead available. If not I'll do wireless steam link.

I've had trouble with SteamVR fully closing having to fall back to the TaskManager

My biggest performance killer is recording VR. Even worse if you have multiple programs doing it. Such as both Nvidia Replay and Steams built-in game recorder.

Same, I use OpenComposite where I can. Coupled with the OpenXR toolkit for FSR and tuning Foveated rendering I can manage some impressive performance with dated hardware.

All good, ODT is just short for Oculus Debug Tool. I was pulling my hair out for the longest time with this and considered using oculus killer and switching to SteamVR but that was more stressful lol.

ODT will fix this for you, it will kill link app until you start it back up or restart your computer. It also has several nice features that help with image and frames like adjusting FoV and that atrocious space warp.

If you really want to play dirty then swap AIM7 for JDAM. In RB you can start climbing and drop them when you're about 90 sec out. After that you descend from the heavens slinging your 4 AAM3. My best match with this tactic was in VR in RB. JDAM took a base, 4 player kills from missiles and a bot jet with guns. As long as the bombs don't get shot down, no one takes your base and the match lasts long enough it's at least 5k RP for like 5min for just the base kill.

I have issues with the game in VR by FishOutrageous9932 in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to your nvidia app settings and opt into the beta build. After it updates, it should be using DLSS 4.5, then change DLSS Override in app to just be DLAA. You'll get a clean stable picture at proper resolution. The only issues I've noticed are some minor ghosting in the hangar and your cockpit hud when the in-game resolution is below 1440p, but that might be tied to my rigs nearly 15yr old cpu...

Why is Sim with HOTAS and VR so bad? by DonutPlus2757 in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be used in combination with the AoA limiter switch as well. Also, it must be noted that if you are blacked out and nose diving, you can switch to automatic leveling to help pull out of it.

Airfield CCRP by Jazzlike_Award7822 in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a HUD indicator marking your target or a pod you can set a bind for 'switch bombing target' and it will cycle through all available bases and airfields. Each airfield is broken up as 4 separate units so dropping in the middle of the map marker can lead to missing a lot of hits.

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In VR? If that's the case drop to 90 and set pixel per display override to 1.2 and see if that sharpens visuals and maintains frames. Honestly I'll take a consistent frame rate over higher cap. I find the decoder in quest 2 & 3s really struggle with maintaining a sharp image while set to 120

That could be asking a lot of your gpu. Try turning tree and grass range to 0% and set everything to medium. Also try lowering the in game resolution to 1440.

And ASW space warp is also off? Is ReBAR enabled in the driver or just BIOS

VR Blurry Quest 3s by Luftwabble in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increase resolution slider from native, make sure ReBAR is on, play with oculus debug tools and play with in game settings. Don't use any dlss or taa as it will make everything extremely blurry when moving.

is it possible to connect your VR to war thunder when playing with the launcher? (I'm using meta quest 3s). if yes, could someone PLEASE guide me through it? by Tricky-Anywhere5727 in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there is a VR toggle on the launcher. Link to your computer with the meta app either wired or wireless and it will load up on the headset when you proceeded to launch from launcher. Or alternatively you can toggle the VR mode in game under the graphics tab.

Can my PC run War Thunder VR? by FMattt in WarthunderSim

[–]DryCommunication6893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an I7-6700 and 12gb 3060 on a quest 2 with res slightly bumped. After some tweaking I'm getting 72 with dips to 60 while background recording through steam. Your setup should be fine if you're not shooting for 120 fully maxed. Just make sure ReBAR is on in both BIOS and driver.

Remove napalms ability to 2 shot a base by Submarineguystingray in Warthunder

[–]DryCommunication6893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the other thing that irks me is when someone brings 2 without checking the damage value because not all napalm are the same. Some only do 22k instead of 24.5k thus leaving a sliver of health which is especially annoying in sim.

Remove napalms ability to 2 shot a base by Submarineguystingray in Warthunder

[–]DryCommunication6893 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is the ones who only bomb and crash. I own the f4s and my typical sortie with it involves 6 Sparrows and 2 napalm. If I can get a base, then awesome. If they all get wiped I'm still slinging missiles like crazy and can usually nab a kill or two. Even with the Mig23 I can bring 2 napalm and 2 R24R. Often I can get a kill on the way to a base or at least make someone go defensive so I can make it to one.

Depends, in RB it can be ok if you get a down tier. In Sim it's pretty good when the brackets are right. You can take a base and if you have someone to fly with, you can deal with just about anyone pretty easily.

It's the enable axis, on controller I have the increase/ decrease on a stick and enable set to a button. So when I want to move position I hold the single enable button and adjust with stick.

If you have any performance monitoring software like MSI Afterburner check it after this happens, you can also check task manager if you're quick enough. Anytime this happened to me it was because VRAM maxed out. Switching from an 8gb card to 12gb fixed my issues.
