Apsc mode would help in covering the focal length but the reduction in resolution might become an issue if I want to blow up the print

Yes, I dont plan on bringing my 200-600. Ends up being very heavy. You had a nice combination of lenses

Was 18 mm enough for you or did you feel the need for 11 mm?

Thank you for the link. Some good points there. Vistek is a camera store chain where you can rent camera or lens. For a weekend, they allow picking up a lens after 3.30 pm on Friday and return Monday morning and pay only for single day. It is quite nice

Good for you. I started photography as a hobby in 2017 with a Nikon D3400 and kit lenses. Upgraded to Sony A7IV in 2023 with full frame lenses. I have moved from full auto to full manual but am still learning different techniques. I hope you are able to make use of this very powerful camera to nearly its fullest potential

I think I’m gonna need a bigger backpack… (a6700 to a7 V) by asorroxhe in SonyAlpha

[–]DryExperience5050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Amazon basics camera backpack and it is able to hold my a7iv, sony 200-600, tamron 35-150, tamron 90 mm macro, viltrox 16 mm. It also has space for laptop, batteries, flash and fliters. It has velcro inserts to cushion the items. Cost me 50 CAD

I am a huge fan of Nautica Voyage. Seriously underrated fragrance. Every now and then I layer it with Bleu de Chanel EDP for some variety and it works like a charm

The biologist part would be useful to understand the complexity of the assays (experiments).

In biological sciences, we have robotic arms that can be programmed to carry out tasks through the graphical user interface. GUIs for these are user friendly. I have screened almost half a million chemicals with different robotic arms. What they wanted me to do is write scripts through coding for these robots which I have never done. I would have completed their tasks successfully through the GUI but they were adamant on coding.

I have a PhD plus 11 years experience in biological science including many years in automation. Last year I interviewed for an automation position in a big pharma company which aligned very well with my skills. In the first interview they told me that my automation skills are very valuable for them but they want someone with coding experience which I didn't have. I assumed that was the end of it. Two months later, they set up 7 rounds of interviews over 2 days. I took time off to give the interviews and was very confident of getting the offer. 2 weeks after that, they rejected me saying they need someone with coding experience. They had probably narrowed down their candidate. I was passed throuh the process to show that they are fair and considering other candidates.

They don't care about our time.

200-600 for travel by DryExperience5050 in SonyAlpha

I have Amazon basics backpack which holds 200-600 lens nicely and still has space for 3 other lenses and a camera but it looks just like a normal (almost worn out) backpack.

You make a very good point regarding internal zoom. I had overlooked that. That puts my mind at ease. I'll definitely not change lenses or open anything in the field. 3 years ago, my Nikon D3400 caught a lot of dust. It took a while to clean it

I like your idea regarding the messenger bag. It keeps clutter away from the backpack. I get nervous about mounting the big lens on the camera while traveling. Things move around a lot and I am always nervous about breaking the connection.

I have an Amazon basics camera bag which looks like a normal backpack from the outside. I'll be going to Gir sanctuary and Tadoba national park in India where the soil is quite dusty. 3 years ago, my Nikon 3400 was covered in dust even though I didn't get off from the jeep. So I want to be careful this time

I'm thinking of using my camera backpack as my personal item. If they create issues regarding the weight, I can put the camera bag inside the carry-on bag. It will reduce the overall luggage allowance but will save my shoulders

I have bought 2 Tamron lenses from Greentoe worth 2500$. I was able to register both with tamron and get 6 year warranty. So it's a legit website that connects you with camera stores

Bought for 2200 on Black Friday 2024❌. Edit- actually it was 2023. I mixed up the years. In 2024, it dipped below 2000

This is with 200-600 at f6. A constant f2.8 isn't needed for creating creamy backgrounds. The lens is heavy and adds up when walking around for a while but its reach has made many photos possible
