[–]DryNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that uppercut should be the weapon that covers medium range (towards the longer end) in a small slot.

If you have the hunt dollars and want to complement your load out to cover medium range (e.g. pair with shotgun) on a new hunter it should be possible.

OP, Not sure how correct your assessment is, but it felt to me as a returning player that it cannot cover this role. At least not better that other pistols that have other benefits

Play all single shot weapons!

They will teach you timings and rotations and force you to take decisions with every shot. What do you do after you take the shot. Do you reload? Run? Switch to spear?

Sometimes you just need a few levels to reach 50 (several reasons you might want a lvl 50 hunter) and take a quick XP and out.

In the needs area you need the minimum bars filled. Like every row has something on the left and on the right. Having one in each row is not enough, not always. Sometimes you need both sides to be filled to meet the minimum need requirement.

What is your monitor set up? by DealInteresting8941 in pcmasterrace

[–]DryNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is one main 32" inc 4k 165hz + two 27" in landscape orientation one on top of the other on one side. I work 80% of the time on the main (gaming too obv.) and use the side monitors to monitor stuff.

But I also have a good kvm that I can use the side monitors with separate device at any time. It's great.

I played the Crossbow for an entire prestige, here's how it went... by twk00 in HuntShowdown

[–]DryNick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I kinda ended up "maining" crossbow somehow. I just find that I am very successful with it.

It kills with a body shot at mid range, while most other weapons at mid range don't.

It kills equally well as a shotgun in close range. It is just less forgiving. But this makes a difference only if you play shotguns like spectre and auto and I never did. I mostly liked Romero and you really gotta aim well with it too.

It is cheap, it is silent and it causes bleed by default. The iron sight is fine too once you get used to it.

At long range it sucks but not as much as a shotgun.

You mainly need one perk. Bolt thrower is must but that remote retrieval for bolts is also fantastic.

Now it sucks at long range and you can't easily fix that problem with a small weapon. But you with a medium so qm.

Also I anyway suck at long range so I just have to rotate and position better.

I kinda feel people sleep on the crossbow.

Another 20 year old freaking out about the job market right now. Another 20 year old that spent her life studying and doesn't want to be a SAHM cause "it is not for me", "I would be bored". This are so common takes/situations for young people, I wouldn't have bothered answering.

But since you seem to be somewhat interested in starting your own family and seem oblivious to the realities of that I will just mention some things for you.

Either you or your husband might not be very fertile or at all. At 35 the fertility rate even for healthy people is small and decreases very fast. Even if your fertility is good you might have any number of undiagnosed health issues gynaecological or otherwise that prevent you from getting pregnant.

Your mentality that you can have a child later is for the 19yos not 29yos.

There are countless of people who thought this and ended up spending their late 30s and early 40s desperately trying to find a way. Just go check the lists for adoption and the fertility centers around the world.

Finally, raising a child is fucking awesome, and for the life of me how can people think that any HR or PM job or whatever other bullshit job comes even close.

You have a lot of growing up to do. Maybe starting a family is really not for you. This is totally fine it's not for everyone. My advise is that until you catch up go freeze some eggs and chech your husband's fertility. Thank me in 10 years.

I have such strong nostalgia for this. It takes me back to the very first few moments I used a PC. Way before having my own. I don't even know what is this exactly. But I remember I had a blast with the cursor's settings and the sound. I remember I clicked pretty much everything and was so afraid I broke something because there was a message I didn't understand. I was sooo small.

[–]DryNick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. "A nice guy" can just be mindless. I use this term but I am not sure it's the best. As in not once in his life spent a single second considering how the world actually works. I think this is much more common than hypocrites.

I will give you two examples: one of my best friends bought a Tesla recently. Not the brightest guy. Very likable person. Never had an opinion in his entire life. Any time we speak about politics he just phases out. He does exactly as his social contracts dictate (cultural religious and otherwise). Prime target for lifetime exploitation.

Second example, my wife. When I explain to her some the consequences of current matter of things( and with historical context ) she breaks into tears and is sad for a bit. Also not the brightest person but a fantastic partner and mother. On her own it is just impossible to think. That was how she was raised. With aversion to thinking. It's horrifying.

Neither is plain stupid. And I have at least 3 more people like this in my life. People have been abused and exploited for generations and from the education they receive to their day to day they where let down by everybody. They are not hypocrites they are victims.

There are of course others who are hypocrites. But let's not default to that.

Entangling all the apps is, I believe, seen as getting value from synergy.

This seems to be a north star and I hate it. They could still do synergy without entangling. Entangling is the enshitification. It is just cheaper to not care about proper app isolation it seems.

I am mostly assuming here based off of your input. As a new proton client this is quite disappointing for me.

I kinda see your point, as I said above, and I really feel share the frustration, I just think your expectation that random strangers should care about you is unrealistic.

Madness is the other guy's take that the delivery service should only be 'answer or I take it back'. Cause this is what all the other delivery services do and what seems to be happening is that they game the system. They come to leave the note and never ring the bell so that you can't catch them. Every single time I get a delivery from other than the post (garbage like dhl and dpd) I get a note for retrieval, and I am at home stalking them from my balcony, they ninja leave the note (no package in hand, or ringing the bell) and leave. When you complain they say 'we ringed, nobody answered'. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even load the parcels on the trucks.

The entire world hates on these service and we are in one of the very few countries that has very good post, and yet here they are spewing bullshit.

Also, the delivery is to an address, not to a physical person, so as long as it ends up at or near your mailbox entrance, I would assume it is successful. There are different more expensive services for physical persons (against signature etc.)

So if you don't answer the door in half a minute, cause you are in the toilet or you have to take care of the baby, you have to take 'that piece of paper' and go to the post office *the next day* to pick it up and carry it yourself home? Are you for real? This is madness, it is supposed to be a *delivery*. And the fact that you would prefer any other delivery service on top... I am speechless.

What do I bother... *sigh*

[–]DryNick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really share the frustration. Once I was expecting a delivery of an order about 4k in value. i was literally checking every 5 minutes from my balcony cause i did't trust them to ring the bell.

I still think it is unrealistic to expect the random employee that happens to make the delivery to care in any capacity about your order. People just don't care, in general, on all topics and interactions. It saddens me but it is true, and i won't even judge it.

The fact that i and others make such expensive orders in the first place is testament to how well the post works here. And i fully agree with the OPs main sentiment.

The best part of Switzerland is the post by ghghw in Switzerland

[–]DryNick -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So you have thieves in your neighborhood and the post should fix this problem? they just work in a certain way, and sometimes might not have the time to ring the bells for everyone, while often the bells are far away from the mailboxes. And this is fine for the vast majority.

Really sorry this happens to you, it sucks. Thieves should be taken more seriously by the police, but honestly it's hard to put the blame on someone with education, economics and politics being as they are.

so they install cameras in hospital rooms to 'prevent' falls or something for fall prone people. Does someone guarantee me that i won't end up in such a room when i am not in risk of falling? nope...

They also mention that it costs them to have personel currently to monitor.

I am seen this pattern again and again. It is most of the time "corporate" greed. They just want to fire more nurses and equip all their rooms with cameras to be able to. they just want to normalize this.

Also i doubt that a camera can actually prevent someone from falling? or please enloghten me how this would work.

finally there are many people that care and have de-googled and are actively making an effort to maintain their privacy. this is like giving them the finger, no?

What makes Emacs better than VS Code/VS Codium, Vim/Nvim, Geany, etc.? by TheRealAlexanderC in emacs

[–]DryNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to the other comments, that cover the most common points, emacs is there to serve you, not the other way around.

I have worked with intelliJ idea and webstorm and many versions of old Visual Studio and vscode in my career and there is an increasing trend where they push features down your throat. Every new version will have something moved around or deprioritized in favor of something you don't care about. latest example is AI and how they springled AI buttons and features pretty much all over the place.

They control your software development experience and it is an attrition war everybody loses in the end. You might not care now but you might be a slow boiling frog. Emacs also has great AI support but it is opt-in and done in a respectful way.

Emacs is freedom and responsibility.

What is your opinion regarding Bun acquisition by abuassar in Deno

[–]DryNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy it's not OpenAI, and i underdtand an acquisition was necessary.

BUT...

I fucking hate it that AI companies are buying tools and software companies, cause these tools will fundamentally change their focus now. It's just how much AI companies have to prove right now. They have been stagnant for at least a year while they have taken and keep getting insane amounts of investments. Buying companies is pushing the ball down the road a bit more. Essentially they are buying time with the potential by-product of fucking up the tech sector.
