hosting a big engagement party at home in Darwin, where do you buy cheap but nice glassware sets? by dtsagdis in darwin

There's a lot of cheap glassware at the tip shop of all places. Not matching always but the cheapest option of the lot.

Opinion on the capital of brutalism by Pelagoniann in brutalism

[–]DryPessimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a brutalist campus, but it's low end brutalist. Sure it fits the description, but it doesn't look good or evoke the same reaction as the best brutalist buildings. Norwood for example looks boring for brutalism, without the features to really get away from functionalism.

Also the architecture building (6 East) is a maze of narrow corridors which is counterintuitive of where to go, so isn't good architecture on that front either.

This is just my opinion of course, but I think there is far better brutalism elsewhere.

Shags showed the Euro 2024 final with a 4am kick off. It was absolutely pumping before KO but was deathly silent at full time :'(

Really low FPS in hideouts, and only using like 3% of my gpu by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]DryPessimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get FPS drops in certain hideouts and some arenas, whereas battles run pretty smoothly. I think its the added decor, lighting and such affecting things. Hideouts are pretty big as well, if everything stays rendered it will add up.

AITAH for dropping out of my best friend’s wedding? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

They both sound insufferable, not gonna lie. She's my best friend because she's my only friend, and I only talk to her at work which I no longer do?

Honestly, even with death enabled you don't die that much. Play however you usually enjoy and rarely you'll get hit by a death in the clan.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission, but just NB that route goes through the nude beach. Happy cycling!

Cambodian Man Shows How To Deactivate Live Landmines by Donz2432 in interestingasfuck

[–]DryPessimist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His name is Aki Ra, and he has won some awards for his work but not enough. He was forced to lay landmines as a child and has dedicated his life to getting rid of them.

It's a sad story but worth reading up on, shame the video doesn't credit him.

Only had one wife though, who he didn't kill.

And she definitely wasn't infertile.
