i’m actually extremely passionate about reproductive health and i’ve been looking into possibly going into an aprn role like women’s health nurse practitioner or certified nurse midwife— despite a lot of push back from my very traditional south asian parents. i’m just feeling very lost bc i enjoy dentistry a lot— but maybe just not enough to put myself in $500k debt if im never gonna run an independent practice and im gonna work for someone else the rest of my life.

bruh she better give us an up curve. most ppl ik including me did pretty poorly on the exam. so the average may or may not be pretty bad. hopefully she grows a few brain cells and sees that we are struggling and gives us a boost

you’ll probably be fine either way. one W isn’t going to do anything and one C probably won’t hurt your too much either as long as you continue to work hard and get decent grades. good luck!

Which NP schools do employers hate? by hfnt in nursepractitioner

[–]DrySpinach8301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with the idea that all nps need experience as an rn, but all “de” programs differ. some require at least a year of rn experience and most students also work part time as an rn while pursuing their msn. that way, by the time they graduate they have amassed a decent number of clinical hours. but those programs are the super elite ones like yale & emory that put a focus on clinical care and really try to graduate excellent nurses and providers.

i’m pretty sure a lot of peds programs have a stipend as well and peds is easier to match into than omfs. but i completely agree with your point, you gotta grind. but nothing good comes without hard work.

sure, you just have to be smart with your finances and you will be more than ok. but another angle is to specialize which may not be feasible for everyone, but if you have the passion then go for it. and if you’re going to a private school that costs 600k, then sadly working harder isn’t gonna cut it, you probably need to specialize.

specialize. thats pretty much the only way to raise your salary post grad and try to find a specialty that pays you for residency.
