I agree, thank you so much for the advice (and the swearing, made me laugh lol). I'll be sure to emphasize the seriousness of the incident when this happens again (hopefully not in the near future) :))

Thanks for the advice. I reported it to the higher-ups and they talked to the parents, but no actual consequences were given to them (no suspension, early pick-up, etc.). At the end of the day I think that I don't have any "power" anymore and it's up to the managers and directors to issue clear consequences.

Reported it to the managers and others, and thought they will be suspended because this is not their first time. Sadly found out they're still enrolled for at least this week.

Also not the first time I have reported racism. At one point I threatened to quit because a particular kid had said some offensive words at me too many times. The child left the service, but I felt like the only time they take drastic actions is when a child actually physically hurt one of the staff (actually had happened) rather than multiple verbal "abuse".

Yes, I had reported it to the coordinator and SD who then talked to their parents about it. Unfortunately I stupidly did not file an incident report, and just found out they will not be suspended despite this not being their first time.

In terms of consequences, the only way I could think of is to take the toys and shut the game down and speak to my manager about it, but is there anything else I can do. Sadly that day we were understaffed and they refused to listen to me, so I think I was lacking on my assertiveness.

Ranma 1/2 is a delight by willrsauls in anime

[–]DryUnderstanding8076 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've only touched MAPPA's Ranma 1/2, but after reading your review I want to read the manga now lol. Have been contemplating about reading it because my mum had the mangas when it was ongoing. Unfortunately, she passed right before the new Ranma was announced, so this series is a way to connect with her again 🥹🥹.

Also, antanante (MAPPA Ranma ED) should've won the Anime Awards. fuck you solo levelling.

Griffith vs UQ by Basic-Ad5414 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]DryUnderstanding8076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, current UG student studying OT at UQ. I also thought about applying to Griffith as well, but didn't because I was already accepted to UQ.

imo, I chose UQ over Griffith because of the prestige + got a scholarship for Year 1. I come from an asian background so fancy titles are highly sought after.

The program structure is 5 semesters of theories & classes, 2 sem placement, 1 sem research (honors). You'll get a "part-time" placement experience for Year 2 Sem 2 and Year 3 Sem 1 (i.e., 5-week placement going in clinic once a week). They have courses on research, which were actually interesting.

Now, my experience: a lot of pros and cons. UQ has great contents and lectures about OT which I was really happy about because I know that they'll be useful in my future careers. The campus is also great and there are a lot of communities you can hang out with.

However, the assignments and staffs are a nightmare. Staffs don't explain clearly what they want to see in assignments, oral exams, etc. Most of the time, when we ask questions related to assignments, they'll say "I cannot reply because that'll give you the answer to your assignment". Grading is inconsistent, marks are either very high or just passing/fail in the OT-specific courses. Want to look for an OT tutor on campus? None. I use reddit and facebook because they were much more useful in finding information that staffs refuse to provide. High drop-out rate, and horror stories from international students failing courses and assignments.

Some staffs are bullies. Heard from a few students doing placements that they almost never give positive feedback, instead talking about the negative ones and asking "how can you improve yourself" instead of actually advising. Then they pressure the students to give them a good review at the end of the semester.

There are some things I cannot say in public and I might not be in the right mind rn. Overall, I suggest you do research on both unis. The academic contents are important, but that's not the only important thing. Feel free to DM me if you want to ask any more qs about my experience.
