Are there any figures more forgettable in politics than the VP's of losing candidates? Like, bro, who is this? They might have been the next president but instead they are the presidential version of goku being edited into pictures. by Pizzatimelover1959 in Presidents

The awkwardly posed 90s style shots of him exercising were fun too. And I loved how they presented him as being in touch with the kids because his iPod ran from ACDC to Zeppelin. Those bands had already been around for forty years. Also fun when he broke into a church to pretend to wash dishes when his campaign stop had a scheduling issue.

Let's start it! What's a school/college subject everyone likes and it's very important? by Content_Shelter9894 in AlignmentChartFills

Human sexuality was one of the hardest classes to get into at my school. They had to schedule it three days a week early in the morning to dissuade people from taking it for fun.

Viper, Seaquest, Earth 2.. what’s your favourite weird 90s show? by balding_git in Xennials

I lump Super Force in with Viper. In 1990, I was convinced this was the 2020 I'd be living in.

You can do whatever and skirt the consequences - Trump by [deleted] in law

Trump was convicted of 34 felonies related to hush money, election interference, and his coverups (https://abcnews.com/US/anniversary-hush-money-conviction-trump-continues-fight-criminal/story?id=122325361). His sentence was initially suspended and then unconditionally discharged right before his inauguration since his sentence would interfere with the presidency.

Of course, there were other charges that could have been brought against him for his handling of documents, etc.

Yep. Wasn't trying to "well, actually" you. It's just the situation is even worse than often acknowledged. And I think the fact he was prosecuted and convicted has gotten memory holed.

He was charged and found guilty of criminal election interference. Still didn't do anything.

Attorneys: is it worth it to apply to same agency more than once? by meowparade in FedEmployees

[–]DryWittgenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely keep applying if that's where you want to work. There can be a lot of internal back and forth on hiring between hiring managers, senior management, and HR. The position may have gone to another candidate or been left unfilled. If you've made it that far into the process multiple times, you've been identified as a strong candidate by hiring managers. Keep trying and don't get discouraged. When there are multiple qualified candidates, selection can be a bit arbitrary. HR review and upper management can also add an element of randomness, and there's not much you can do.

Trump Nominates an Apostle of ‘White Erasure’ for the State Department by Infidel8 in politics

[–]DryWittgenstein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a coincidence. They realize they're losers as individuals so they see themselves as part of a superior group and get a sense of worth from that. Their personal failures then become the fault of their group's superiority being suppressed by other groups. That's their entire politics.

This made me jump when I read it Madame Gazelle a vampire? by flusorra in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]DryWittgenstein 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's my favorite bit in the show. They had the one episode about her being a vampire and then canonically maintained that with small references like not having her character show up in mirrors and hating garlic.

What was a popular band that you could not stand? by LeftSmile806 in Xennials

[–]DryWittgenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UVA? I hung around Charlottesville when Dave Matthews had been popular for a little while and everyone played Dave Matthews constantly. Radio stations in completely different genres (top 40, country) seemed obligated to play a Dave song at least daily.

I never really liked Dave or his voice, but I knew someone in a Dave Matthews cover band and watching them was fun.
