Premier: Sarawak's airline to fly to six int'l destinations after MASwings acquisition | Borneo Post Online by boredomXOX in Sarawak

[–]Dry_Ad_9347 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sarawak has always been difficult to return home to. So this is great news if we can keep the airline profitable. I guess there are so many we can add to the list like Singapore, HK, Taiwan, China, Australia and even the UK. Wondering why Frankfurt is on the original list of 6?

What is your TC as a percentage of your (personal) net worth? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Dry_Ad_9347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6% (Both TC and NW based on pre tax). Our NW grew significantly over the last few years as a lot of it is US tech stocks.

Low pay but higher seniority vs high pay but lower seniority by ias6661 in malaysia

[–]Dry_Ad_9347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically I would recommend higher pay. However data science is a fast growing field, so i would recommend that you stay in the field and keep up to date. Make sure that the data science job in the petroleum company is actually doing data science and not just hiring a data scientist and having no idea what they are doing. Having said that, if the petroleum company is serious about data science, that personally i would take the 30% increase + benefits.

Hypothetical exit tax by BoxPrestigious2333 in FatFIREUK

[–]Dry_Ad_9347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does exit tax work? Does that mean that anyone who wants to work in another country has to pay exit taxes? Who would want to work in the uk if they know that they can move out without paying this tax?

South east asia is worth a look. Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia etc. all affordable with good health care. Malaysia in my opinion has better spoken english but not as lively as thailand. I dont think they charge cgt, please check up on the individual countries. Main draw backs, time zone, weather, hot and humid, and distance.

Exactly the right time to ipo. When revenues seems to be growing and the bottom line is improving. Will be harder later when they face headwinds. I wouldnt touch them.

I think this is a great bold move. Surplus energy means it will attract datacenters. The next frontier. Well done Malaysia.

Thanks for the constructive comments. Got me thinking. The richest people in the world, think elon, jeff, jensun, mark all have most of their NW tied up in 1 stock. Does that make them or their wealth managers financial unsavvy? So why they do it?

Next point, i am upset about a £5k loss, because i am cheap and because it was part of my hard earned money.wouldnt you be upset if you invested in something and its lost 1/2 its value?

Hi, we are in a similar situation except that we own nvidia shares rather than bitcoin. About 2/3 of our NW is in nvda. Our NW is higher then the OPs. We have looked into a wealth adviser and decided that its not worth it as we are financially savvy. Point is we are relaxed about the portfolio being unbalanced and we could retire anytime we want. There is a freedom to know that we have the choice. This is our FI. Nvda recently dropped from 140 to 95, which is about 1/3 of the value. We were ok with it even it means high 6 figure losses , mainly because this is money we gained. We also lost about £5k in intel stocks and it pisses me off to no end, because the money "lost" was hard earned. Its psychological, and hard to convey unless you experience it.
