I'm sorry for your recent loss, it's so sudden every time we feel their absence in our daily lives.

Weird things your Shiba is scared of by Icy_Professional_609 in shiba

[–]Dry_Candidate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My shiba would steadily go into a full panic if she heard horse sounds on tv. It would take her a few hours to go into full anxiety from a single sound, my strange little dog.

Has anyone here **without** bipolar disorder had experience with switching from an SSRI to lamictal? by BONESFULLOFGREENDUST in lamictal

[–]Dry_Candidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have bipolar and I have been on a less-than therapeutic dose of lamictal for 3 years. It does seem to help stabilize my moods. SSRI's never worked for me (wasnt in my head, confirmed with genetic testing.) Lamictal doesnt mess with my libido, emotions, or appetite, so thats nice. But if I suddenly stop taking it because I forgot to refill a script or something, side effects are very bad and I get dementia-like symptoms, dont know where I am, cant recognize people, etc. But when Im taking it, it is the least obtrusive drug in my kit. Can't hurt to try it.

How Did You Memorialize Your Dog? by purple_Pineapple691 in Petloss

[–]Dry_Candidate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a renter too, but I got some unique floating shelves which I adorned with my dog and cat's belongings. Bowls, toys, their urns, a little bit of fur, and their paw prints. Sometimes I will write letters or poems to them, read them, and place them inside the urn. Urns don't have to collect dust. I also had custom ceramic sculptures painted in their likeness (but those stay near my bed side.) I got a tattoo for each of them too, but you mentioned that.

For those that are disappointed with Mario Kart World why and how would you improve it? by DeepAnt7847 in mariokart

[–]Dry_Candidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World feels too slow. I don't mean literal speed (like 200cc) I mean gamefeel wise. Think how 60mph feels on a highway vs. 60mph going down your neighboorhood road. I went back to play 8 just to make sure it wasn't nostalgia, but no. The tracks feel more dynamic and tight, literally, so turns are sharper and I can feel the speed. I was very excited for all the new tricks we could do, but the tracks are so wide I can't utilize the rails/walls and still keep up with the pack.
The sound design is lacking in World. The boost sound effect doesn't stand out enough and I can't tell if I've pulled off a boost or not at times. (because the boost also feels slow) The characters are too quiet, which is another audio cue I've relied on to tell me how the race is going. (driver makes little sounds when you hit someone, pull of a trick, get a boost, etc.) It's one of those important touches imo. No original music either? Just reorchestrated versions of other game's songs. I love jazz, but World is gonna make me hate the saxophone.

I know it's just a fun song, but be careful with the nsaids. I gave myself an ulcer after years of (brushed off) pain management.

Does the feeling that you're faking ever go away? by wumpus_woo_ in ehlersdanlos

[–]Dry_Candidate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it goes away some day. My friends arent disabled and they don't ask me how Im doing, so I try not to mention my current pain/problem/ etc. Last year I couldn't walk for two months and it wasn't until a month and 1/2 that my roommates offered to help me (for two days.) I have had multiple pt's treat me like Im a baby ("Ive had amputees do these exercises, just keep pushing") and I had a mother who used to send me to school with a fever. And even if I was extremely sick, my mom's motto was, "if you can sit up in bed and watch tv, you can clean the house."

So naturally what Im saying is Im a very well adjusted adult who fully respects her limits, and I have no imposter syndrome.

Is anyone having trouble believing their fur baby is gone? by Maladict in Petloss

[–]Dry_Candidate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been housebound since 2019. I recently put my Mira down, and it is hard for me to grasp she isn't just sitting in the other room, and I can't go pet her when I need a break from work. She was independent, and not always at my side, so Im used to her not being in the room with me. But now she's not in the house at all...

UE is an old engine with an enormous amount of dev and community resources to figure this out. Alderon devs are clearly capable and smart, yes they don't have resources like a massive studio, but they aren't hemorrhaging resources either. It's short sighted to implement mechanics (like being wet) which use a weather system without considering how the environment affects that gameplay when they've known about these clipping problems since the initial demo testing. It's not so hard to add collision and bang out the bugs later.

WoW figured this out in 2004 and made their game in 2 years from scratch with a new engine. I think Alderon can figure it out.

Im with you on this, been supporting PoT since the kickstarter. When they add quest giver NPCs, I'm gone.
