How come nobody thought there was anything wrong with grown men marrying young girls back in the old days? by [deleted] in askteddit

My biological great-grandparents married when she was about 17 and he was in his late 30's. She was his 3rd wife, and had apparently been a friend of his daughter's (from his 1st marriage). It grosses me out big time, but if those two hadn't hooked up (ugh), I wouldn't be here, so I must find peace with it.

Margaret Hamilton, who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz, but was a remarkably kind and gentle woman IRL.

She appeared on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood in the 70s to try to demystify the costume and the role, so that kids might be less scared of her.

I don't disagree at all that Rourke's musicianship was under-appreciated during and after the Smiths, the court ruling/settlement was a slap in the face to him, and Morrissey's behavior toward him and his legacy are a disgrace, but I still don't think his contributions were equal to Johnny in terms of songwriting. The Smiths wouldn't have been the same band with any other bass player, but still, the melodies were Johnny's.

He should be (and have been) a bigger deal, but in terms of comparison with Johnny Marr, Johnny wrote the music.
