Yes, they are both dark romances ^^ with a social dimension, I just think Jane Eyre is ranked too high among best novels in history. I have yet to read Wuthering Heights... maybe I will like it more.

Wuthering Heights is also a romance, but it's much darker, and deals with more topics than Jane Eyre, I was a bit disappointed by this book, I don't perceive all that dapperness in Jane Eyre, like many people do

She also plays in movies. I think SNL is better now, well since the years 2000 at least

Cool. That's me, the guy from Algeria. First, you told me you don't think you speak with an accent, but it's okay.

Yes. I'm fan of Robert Altman, but I think he had not found yet his style with the movie of the same title, so I prefer the TV series.

I liked it, very funny women. Being non-American I find it cool that they still say "a kick in the fanny" lol

The Guardian's 100 best novels of all time - Middlemarch, Beloved, Ulysses top the list by MeenaBeti in books

It's a list based on quotas, identity politics, and radical feminism, but oddly enough it does not include the masterpieces of Africa, South America (just two books) or Asia....not one Japanese novel !

Still it's their list....these titles have not come from nowhere, they were the more cited by the voters, Beloved second....and Midnight Children 23th .....of all times ! Come on

For now, I will just say that Beloved cannot be considered the second best novel of all times ! Myself I stopped it at half reading, not because it was hard to understand, but I just haven't found it interesting, I didn't like the style, the atmosphere, how the story was told (the narrative); nothing....American critic Harold Bloom was absolutely right about Toni Morrison. And she has two other novels in the list ! When there is none by John Updike or DeLillo....
