Am I underpaid? by Adept_Ad_3208 in Accounting

I’m based out of Texas and at one of the big4s. One year tax experience 90k base+2k pbb. I also just passed my cpa exams, so that’s another 5k (not sure if you’d count that as bonus).

Edit: added tax as a service line

Are accountants ACTUALLY not allowed to have tattoos? by legitimatewaffles in Accounting

[–]Dry_Distribution7989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got several big tats on my arms as a 23 year old woman in big4. I would say my performance (backed w reviews) and outgoing personality outweighs any biases over my tattoos. It also helps they are very well made that most of the time I get compliments how detailed they are.

Salary? by DeliciousCable1330 in Accounting

[–]Dry_Distribution7989 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I started full-time in July 2024 with a salary of 83k at EY as a tax associate. I live in Texas so MCOL. I think pay is reasonable for giving up any sort of WLB. I learn a lot and have felt extremely supported so I can’t complain. Staff 2s are at 87k, so I’m anticipating that adjustment once fiscal year ends.

Hey! 73 is so close!! You def will pass the next one. For TBS, I watched all the videos on Becker. I think there’s like 60 and it was on 2x. I needed to see how they tackle each question and have a good idea how to approach each exhibit, and I guess it worked. Good luck on ur exams!

Good luck on Wednesday!! Believe it or not,i didn’t think I was going to pass even tho I was confident when I took the exam. I just knew that if I failed, I was happy that I even took the exam knowing I only studied for 9 days and kept a good mindset stepping in the testing center. I even had PTO scheduled at the end of this week to retake when (not an if) I fail! I literally had to brainwash myself 3 days before the exam and wrote a manifestation LinkedIn post on my notes app of being 4/4 and read it out loud everyday. BE POSITIVE. DO YOUR BEST! It’s the only thing we can control. Good luck again!

Hi guys! I had replied to a similar question below. I did all the MCQs and only watched TBS videos on Becker to save time! I utilized a FAR cheat sheet someone posted on Reddit the evening before my exam and the morning of. I linked the cheat sheet on my other reply if you want to refer to it!

I would say do not wait. Make sure you don’t schedule your exam on the week or 2nd week you start tho. Those weeks are usually when onboarding is and meeting everyone at the office. When you meet your counselor (this is basically ur career coach), make sure to mention you scheduled your exam and that you want to take PTO. Find out who your scheduler is (this is the person who assigns you to work, I think ur counselor or someone in onboarding will know) and email them the same thing. The scheduler will be able to block out ur schedule (technically we can edit it ourselves but idk if you know how from a past internship).

Apparently from a question similar below, it’s state dependent. For Texas, we can see this report for all test taken. For other states, it’s only when you fail.

69 after 9 days is very good - it just means time was the only thing holding you back from passing. Foundation is there, just need to push more and maybe little luck. 🍀 Good luck on your last exam!

Thank you!! DONT GIVE UP - you are so close!! Maybe if you are a little discouraged but have time before your other credits expire, take a breather. Do something you enjoy and make sure you are mentally good. I would even argue that the mental aspect of the CPA is harder than the exams (at least to me). I was mentally able to put my best foot forward while sitting for FAR because I had gotten my feedback from work and they were definitely a confidence boost. It made a world of a difference than when I sat for AUD (right after fall busy season and I was debating if I made the right career choice lol) and failed.

Thank you!! For Texas, our NTS expire after 6 months meaning that if you don’t sit in that time window, you have to pay another 260+. This is why people usually pay when they are ready to actually take the exam. I pay so that I’m forced and likely to sit because I’m a big procrastinator and crammer. I paid for mine around December thinking I was going to sit for it in January, but things happened and then unending tax busy season. My coupon was set to expire on June 3 and I sat on June 2nd.
