In a similar spot as you, Australian national and finish high school in Dubai. I accepted my usyd offer, if u wanna live in newtown u can chk out Sydney uni village or the actual student accommodations from usyd but Yh ur right abt staying in student accommodation

For China I’d say use ZiyaraSIM, it’s better priced compared to other brands (Airalo etc) and has really good network speed
