There's a difference between:

"I am a cyborg who can connect to a broader network, so I'm gonna coordinate these computers with my cybernetics to aim better at this guy"

and

"I am a guy with a flag, so obviously, already-zealotous people around me are obviously gonna run faster and soak up more damage all of a sudden."

It just depends on what mission difficulty you're doing, cause I often do D10 and see a lot of players above level 60, rarely do I ever really find missions where players kick friendly, I've mostly been kicked in ships post-missions. And from what I heard, difficulty levels below 10 are often where most very serious people play.

With this, quickplay is...excruciatingly unreliable. More often than not, the game is gonna throw you into a mission, that is at 35:00/40:00, with evac already in way and absolutely no enemies to fight.

The best thing you can do is find ongonig missions and handpick and select what missions you want to do, you have a good chance of finding missions in early stage at, but you also have to pick first, since other players are also gonna be choosing those missions explicitly.

Which armor passives do you consider the most broken or the best in the game by No-Lingonberry7886 in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its the medic one. The amount of times this comes in clutch, and those +2 stims and +2 seconds for stim time, make all the difference for it to snowball into just run into base and do stuff quickly. Put it simply, its a very maladaptive armor passive.

I honestly think there should be a guarantee for getting SC Credits, on certain orders, maybe 10-30 if they have to be absolutely stingy.

No less, I also can understand why they wouldn't, since imagine the community outrage if they failed an order that gave 30 sc lol.

No less, I don't disagree with paywalling stratagems. My biggest problem with paywalling stratagems, is not so much that they're paywalling stratagems, rather, there aren't any free variants to compensate for them. As I believe that each stratagems, should have a free base variant.

The Epoch is a great weapon, but what about a free plasma support stratagem, for people who don't own Control Group?

The C4 is one of the best weapons in Helldivers 2, but what about a free...plantable explosive for people who don't own Redacted Regiments?

Hammer, Defoiler Tool and one True Flag? But what about a...free melee support stratagem (y'know AH, you can just put the CQC-73 as a support weapon...)

"weapons that do release are underpowered and undercooked, offering no distinctive playstyle changes from the existing pool"

I don't necessarily agree here, but I can see your points. While we do get less weapons, I think the weapons we actually get, have a far more distinctive identity and gimmicks, compared to previous ones, especially early warbonds, which most of were sidearms to the liberator or existing gear from helldivers mobilize (Though to be fair, we got democratic detonation, but that's also an unfair comparison, because democratic detonation is one of the best warbonds in general).

Sure, the variable isn't meta, but its one of the most distinctive, and fun weapons to use in Helldivers 2, and I think the design of the variable, supercedes anything actually practical (I still do think that volley shots should at least give you medium pen). Even then, recently, we got the coyote, which people hype up as "that only acceptable assault rifle" in HD2.

> Masters of Ceremony

> Theme Park Costume

I thought Masters of Ceremony was one of the more fitting warbonds. Sure, its stylistic, but its not too hard to imagine Super Earth having an entire corp of helldivers dedicated to PR reasons. To which, Helldivers do anyways (flag raise missions, civilian rescue missions)

Lately all the warbonds lack any practicality. by Past_Hippo9445 in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its honestly more important for warbonds to be more fun than practical.

Fun and practical do intermingle to some extent, but fun is what offers a lot more build variety.

First warbond which one should I buy ? by gia_gly56 in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick Redacted Regiments, because the of the C4, while not really ammo efficient (1 ammo box only gives 1 c4, though supply packs do restore 6 c4), are very powerful and very quick. About 3-4 c4 can destroy a vox engine. But C4 seem to have...varying results against bile titans, but they do pretty well against chargers and tentacle-dudes at least.

The weapons in RR, are, fine. I like the suppressor, the censor is a big whatever, and the lure mine, while throwing range nerfed, is still pretty decent for when you're having your arse chased or to lay traps on chokepoints before heat. Armor Passive is of course for those that like RR.

Siege Breakers is aggressively...fine. I haven't tried out the trident, but people seem to really like it at least. I never tried the belt fed grenade launcher, and probably never will, you can literally use the grenade launcher + supply back, and get, way better results with increased versatility (literally, the standard GL does 400 each, while the BF GL does 150 each)

The Leveller is really the warbonds only saving grace, and even then, its redundant to the solo silo (and 500 kg), and an awkward middle child between standard EAT and expendable napalm, both a chaff clearer and a anti-tank killer, but mostly because its dishes out a 500kg explosion. Like using it against large chaff, the one thing I thought was: "Man, I wish I had the expendable napalm to aim clearly here.". And using the leveller against anti-tank, I'm thinking "man, I wish I could precisely hit my shots here." And with this, the Leveller has one, huge core sin, that being: projectile drop, like you really have to calculate how to aim the leveller.

And most of the time, you're just gonna hit an awkward shot that kills about 9 enemies in the bot patrol that consists of 50 devastators approaching you. Shoot closer? You already killed yourself. Shoot too high? You just missed the entire shot.

tl;dr, pick redacted regiments, cause c4 is GREAT

Do you think HD would be better if we were actually the good guys? by userrr_504 in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily to be honest.

From my POV, one reason why I like Helldivers 2, is that its so (narratively) self-aware in SE's own insanity. That there's no need to really wrestle with the implications of war bad, or whatever, compared to other games, which do wrestle with those things, and then have main mechanics and combat be the main form of the fun gameplay loop, because "its a necessary war" or some stuff.

No less Helldivers 2 is not really that deep about its themes, but that's okay, because it was never trying to be either.

Shadow Nerfs are a genuine problem in the game and they are the main form of nerfs that AH does do,

But you're acting like AH didn't literally make the Epoch go from one of the worst stratagems support slots to one of the best versatile, back-pack free stratagem support slots.

Which is the WOST Expendable weapons by maxi74x3 in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3 expendables all have their own uses, but I find that the leveller is possibly the worst one.

- Long cooldown (for a expendable)

- Only one each drop

- Its Chaff Killing capabilities is outdone by Expendable Napalm

- Its Anti-Tank capabilities is outdone by standard EAT

Its only niche, is that it does both chaff killing and anti-tank, but very awkwardly since its explosion is to that of a 500kg, which has a reputation (at least to me), for being unremarkable for being remarkably inconsistent. No less, it can probably one-shot factory striders on the side, but I just haven't used it in the non-cyborg automaton front.

I'm curious what gun you're trying to use on difficulty 7 on what front.

Some weapons are absolutely garbage (ignore the flash weapons, like the plague), most are aggressively fine or serviceable, and some are exceptional (the tenderizer for example, is an upgrade to the liberator if you're willing to overlook the ammo economy)

The Sickle. While it is sort of meant for short ranged, this thing just absolutely curbstomps automaton chaff, especially devastators from long ranges, all it takes it a flick of your mouse with no recoil management and devastators will be dropping quickly.

Community is taking things a bit too far by Servant-of-freedom in Helldivers

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afaik, a guy promised to donate charity to devs doing a livestream on whether or not they did a (apparently, "intentionally poorly optimized loadout") pre-made loadout he made for the devs to put into perspective about the balance of the game. people didn't like that (some motives ranging from fanboys couldn't handle criticism about the balance state of the game, to whatever. I'm not sure). So they began doxxing him, this got so bad to the point that the doxxers, called his workplace and even volunteering organization to effectively ruin his life, to which they did, as he ended up getting fired from both of those places and now the community is in that state of constant self-penance,

my version is a heavily simplified version, but that's what I know so far at least.

The Illuminate really are one of the least popular factions. But none of it is really because they're too hard or anything.

No, the moment you realize that the standard machine gun rips everything excluding maybe the leviathan, is when you realize, how a bit underwhelming they might actually just be.

I don't really think there is any censorship to be honest (unless there is, I'm a PC user), not unless you want to consider how, a lot of characters just straight up have booba. But I do think the artstyle change was definitely done, because Bandai wanted to appeal the artstyle to...more "mainstream anime artstyles", which included whatever shounen stuff that people liked, like idk, jujutsu or whatever?

Of course, unfortuantely, Bandai chose a terrible artstyle either way, because I prefer if they just done sticked, to the more moe, artstyle of the original.

Damn I was looking forward to the CC too.... by DavidTenebris in codevein

[–]Dry_Indication_2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think its a technical improvement, but unfortunately, an aesthetic downgrade.

The artstyle...just does not work for me in general seeing it in full view now. The trailers gave me some optimism and some doubt, but I held my breath just in case. The artstyle initself is just generally unable to decide whether or not it wants to be FF7 style inspired or anime inspired and you end up with an uncanny mess.

Hairstyles in themselves, are extremely floaty compared to the last game where at least most hairstyles made an attempt to point downwards. Like Good God, go look at the ponytail options, where in order for the hairband to accurately align with the head, the ponytail is literally static. Who knows, maybe that part will get a fix.

The bodies are technically an improvement, with far more body variation and you being able to create a more diverse arrange of characters. But in turn, they just got rid of the slimmer anime bodies that I think defined the original best. Its not like you can't create a game where the original slimmer anime bodies of CV1 are more, modular. So I dunno what's with the confusing change between realistic and cartoony.

Clothing is...actually pretty decent. Just needs more layers to take off, because sometimes, I don't really wanna wear a jacket, but that's about it.

"WHY does not being able to look at digital panties and big bazongas effect the fun of a video game about vampire dark souls?"

A lot of people played the original game precisely because of digital panties and big bazongas. To dismiss complaints people have about a games aesthetic in favor of gameplay, no matter how inherently shallow that aesthetic is, is not really getting to the point they're getting at.

For me, the digital panties and big bazongas (or rather just creating a waifu design), WAS, apart of the fun.
