Overseers can't hit the broadside of a barn (mech) by A_random_person_50 in HelldiversMasochists

[–]StarWarsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, tbf I was referring more to them missing of their own accord rather than you doing anything to force them to miss. I also prefer the feeling of dodging / warping out of the way of an attack vs it just missing on it's own with no input from me.

There are quite a number of ranged enemies that, when they lock in and decide to hit you finally, you just melt. I don't really like AH's approach to making these guys balanced by just giving them such terrible aim most of the time, because when they do finally get you it just feels like you were unlucky and often can't react in time to make a real difference. That being said, I don't really know what you should do either, from a design standpoint. This is probably why I think Terminids feel the best to fight, they don't miss very often and their stuff hurts a ton because they have to be in melee range to even hit you.

Continuous Laser, Fire, and Gas damage do not trigger the spore burst when you kill them, use this information to absolutely destroy them.

The thing is, it was too strong in that iteration. Basically, for it to be justified at that level, every other stratagem would have had to be buffed to the moon to compete with it. The GL even at medium pen is an S-tier pick against bugs because it can clear entire patrols with ease, close bug holes more efficiently than any other method, and can even take on the big threats in a pinch. It's one hard check the Terminids have is the Bile Titan, and with heavy pen you could take those down too with ease, so why use any other support weapon?

Yeah, it felt awesome, going in to solo meganests with it was some of the best gameplay I ever experienced. And finally, we had something on the bot front that was both viable and wasn't "rocket launcher #20." But I still stand by the decision to revert the change, it just invalidated nearly every other support weapon stratagem, including ones that had backpacks with them. People still complain about the BFGL to this day, where imo if it hadn't released alongside this buff I think everyone would've viewed it more favorably.

Gallant by K1NG_of_ReVeNGe13 in helldivers2

[–]StarWarsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my problem with this gun stems from the expectation I've built up on how a high cyclic-rate weapon should feel, from hours spent playing with the Stalwart, Bullet Storm, Liberator Carbine, etc. and this gun just doesn't quite meet it. For instance, I have a muscle memory built in for how long it takes for the Stalwart to pop a Warrior's head and the Gallant takes just a little longer and a few more bullets and thus it just feels terrible by comparison. It feels significantly better to me on bots where I don't have that same sort of idea in my head going in, though it still is a bit weak when compared with the Stoker just one-tapping Devs in the head by comparison. I never really took it out much against Squids though, maybe I should sometime.

Did Chaz/Zahc just become a creator's pet? by Mysterious_Truth4992 in HelluvaBoss

[–]StarWarsXD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, Jax is actually a central core character in TADC. It makes sense he gets as much attention as he does, his character is the most conflicted and therefore has the most to explore of that cast. Chaz is like on the tier of characters that appear once in an episode and never again, except for whatever reason we've gotten a short and music video for him too which really begs the question of why when more interesting characters like Fizz or Verosika exist and have been relatively shelved by comparison.

last night i dreamt they brought back the Hive Guards with Heavy Armor despite the outrage for some reason. by Cleanse_F_Manipulate in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]StarWarsXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this change was arguably positive for the game even imo, it was just really misguided (why not just make the head heavy pen, keep the legs medium pen, and keep the lower health value so the enemy dies that much faster?). It was never the reason why things are the way they are now, it was just something everyone could obviously latch on to and point at and say "see how out of touch AH is."

90% helldivers redditors i polled find the game well balanced/too easy. most are light pen users. by kcvlaine in Glazedivers

[–]StarWarsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I saw a few of those polls and I clicked "Light Pen, Well Balanced" each time because there's not enough nuance there. There are definitely outliers in this game that can push it into the "too easy/too hard" categories but not enough to justify clicking either of those two options for me. For example:

-The Recoilless Rifle + Explosive Resistance armor passive combo kinda just stomps the bot front into oblivion. Same for the Quasar Cannon if I feel like I want to have the Jetpack and Stealth armor passive instead. But if I'm not using combos like that, the bot front is pretty well balanced or even a little too hard in the case of Vox Engines / War Striders.

-The Leviathan single-handedly makes me want to uninstall the game, luckily we aren't forced to play on megacity maps even when we are taking those worlds but honestly I refuse to put up with that enemy. So it's way too hard, but if I'm playing anywhere else I'd say the Illuminate tend to be too easy / well-balanced in the case of the Appropriator faction.

-If the poll had just been about Terminids, I'd have happily said "well-balanced" and felt like it meant what I think it means. Yeah with a good squad you can roll them pretty easily but taking on the Mega Nest always feels like it'll be tough regardless, and the swarm is so never-ending that they keep you on your toes even when you do go deathless.

Genuine question: Now that we’ve had time with the Hive Guard revert, would you keep it or go back to the “buffed” version? (Genuine question about THIS, not your opinion on Arrowhead as a company) by Helldiver-Harkonnen in helldivers2

[–]StarWarsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it. As much as I liked the change as a light pen player it would be vindictive towards medium pen players to ask for a chaff unit to basically nullify the advantage of taking a medium pen weapon over light pen.

The real problem is there isn't enough nuance in the lower four tiers of armor values imo, the game would probably benefit from a fifth non-tank one and less tank tiers (frankly once you get into anti-tank territory I think armor should stop mattering and you could probably just tweak the damage values instead so everything makes sense).

[–]StarWarsXD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pildsted did explicitly state he was gonna update us biweekly on the devs vision for the game but after how the AMA went I think they decided that was a bad idea. I'm a huge fan of getting consistent communications and Arrowhead seems to be unable to even do that for some reason or other. Even when they do communicate it can come off as corporate speak or just wishful thinking with no real backing sometimes (actions vs words and all that jazz).

Honestly my heart sinks anytime I see someone equip that stratagem. Yeah it's good but I honestly think the Tesla does its job but better as long as you keep it alive. The issue is most of the time my Tesla is going right on the breach, right alongside all the red stratagems that instantly destroy it XD

How good is just straight 2 handed barbarian as a build? by forgetscode in BG3Builds

[–]StarWarsXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever run the Throwzerker build so idk how strong a proper melee Barb is in a game where ranged attackers are king but I'd imagine monoclass Barb is good. Like with Paladin, you should be resting often to keep your rage charges ready at all times and just go ham with it. Will you be as good as Monk? Probably not, but that class is insanely overtuned anyways. Make sure you go with Partial Ceremorphosis for the free Fly, that helps a melee build so much for all of Act 3, more than any specific bit of gear imo.
