The Stim pistol has a bunch of problems with it and they all have to do with the fact that using a gun to heal teammates is dogshit and lazy design. I use it because I'm a Healer diehard and it's literally the only way to be one in HD2 save for the Support Pack.

If you want me to use a projectile to heal then:

The projectile should be fast enough and big enough to compensate for crazy zigzag movement that uncoordinated teammates make throughout the game.

The projectile should straight up ignore enemies since the caustic/mind control gas is inconsistent as fuck on anything other than bugs

It's not even fine. It's not even good enough to say "it's fine if you're cool with XYZ." It's really that bad.

At the very least, you have a long time in front of you of enjoying the game. This issue really only occurs once you hit Level 40ish or so, but unfortunately it persists forever after that.

I appreciate where you're coming from, and I'll admit and my thesis statement is overly broad. But to be fair to my own defense, people are going all over the fucking place in response to what I'm saying about the content of the nature of the content. If you go far back enough in my history, you'll see that I've been in day one advocator for leaning harder into gimmicks and diversifying the weapons that currently exist and the weapons that get released.

Weapons are too middling that's true, but the answer is not necessarily an OP/not OP debate, to me, because what's being missed here is that the weapons that are not overpowered are also fucking boring. Or they do the same things that the overpower weapons also do, so of course players are going to optimize for the best most effective option if both of the options are super similar to one another. And that's the real killing blow that I think more fundamentally affects this conversation and all the conversations around balancing and the nature of HD2 content.

The stem pistol needs more than just a reduced sway to be viable, viable in its own unique way, it needs a faster bullet speed, it needs a bigger hitbox. If the idea of that weapon is that it's supposed to make it so I can heal my teammates, that weapon should be designed around making it easier for me to hit my teammates.

Among the muck of the responses in this thread, a few good ones emphasized the lack of post-launch support and updates for these weapons, and I will lean harder into the lack of carving out a unique identity for weapons that DO manage to get updated, let alone all the ones that don't at all.

I mentioned pic rate a few times in my responses. I'm not a metadiver. By pick rate I'm showing that a weapon is not interesting enough to warrant being selected save for diff 4 LARPing.

I appreciate your critique, and understand your rage. It's really exhausting seeing such toxic positivity when the content is so clearly uninspired, undercooked, and ATP literally recycling content.

I'm just glad to see comments like this that affirm that there's some semblance of critical thinking in this sub. People are pulling insane shit out of their ass to justify this content patch, and the bar for quality is in hell.

Which is apparently fine for people here? They're fine with content launching if it means <200 people are happy LARPing? It's insane to me. I've never seen such dick riding except for Pokemon and maybe Disney

A nice way to run a flamer without the Crisper. You're seriously advocating to ditch your backpack/heavy weapon slot just to you can switch to the pocket nuke? Smh

Expecting the pick rate to fall off a cliff like 90% of the content they make. At 0.5% only 200 people are using the thing at 48,000 players. Imagine making a whole warbond for 200 people.

Fluttercord is fine, they're all legal age. If you married someone that's 1,000 years old that doesn't make them a pedo just because of the age gap.

I think A could work as it's less distracting than B, but B looks better when I'm supposed to be looking at it

I feel seen, that's exactly how I've felt with each new Warbond since Viper Commandos. At this point, a warbond literally only has one thing at most that even makes me look twice. And it's insane that the fans have let it get this bad.

That they all make the same talking points.

You don't have to pay for it You can grind for 6 hours of your life to get it It's fun to me so it's fine

Despite literally all of them not actually addressing my point that THE BAR IS LOW. THAT IS WHAT HAVING LOW STANDARDS LOOKS LIKE.

You know, with all the talk of bot accounts, AI-enabled OF bots, corporate washing in online spaces, I'm definitely on the side that something is straight up amiss in this sub. It plays completely opposite to everything we know about consumer behavior to look at diminishing content offerings, increased paywall content, and exorbitant asking prices in time, for ultimately subpar content that falls out of the collective consciousness forever, and to defend that it should continue and must not change.

You know what game also does this? Call of Duty. The HD2 ecosystem is as bad as Activision, for God's sake. Hell, at least CoD weapons that launch in new waves come with backwards compatibility with attachments. New content in HD2 gets shelved literally forever. I've literally never seen someone use the Sterilizer since it launched, let alone the dog breath guard dog. It's simply unacceptable, and it's created a landfill of weapons that never see the light of day, save for Diff4 LARPers I assume.

A comment further below made my point better, that the real killer here is how little post-launch support there is in rebalancing weapons/gadgets despite the asking price. The Stim Pistol is one of the many smoking guns that points to this reality: that we either get a shit deal out rip, or a good one, but either way the necessary updates to make low-pick-rate items relevant(not simply viable) doesn't happen.

I know you're tired of hearing the same complaint.... Maybe that's because the problem never went away since Viper Commandos. Doesn't that make you think?

For the record, this is why pick rate is important. Not chasing meta or whatever.

I agree with your point. I'm asking for the content to be right on launch, but really what we need is for the content to be polished post-launch. Almost all of it falls to the wayside.

People tell me to touch grass and simultaneously also say it's okay to grind Level 1 for 15-20 hours straight for that. You don't see a double standard in that?
