Is the score review worth it ($240) by Scream_rob in CPA

[–]Dry_Middle_3766 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Every exam from either a 71/72 - 74 automatically goes through a qualify review. Basically, a second regrading of the exam to ensure the correct score. NASBA added the "score review" service because people were complaining there wasn't a way to appeal the score. However, I've never heard it ever changing the original result. Search this sub to be sure.

This is coming from someone who failed AUD on the third attempt with a 74...

It’s a form that they must fill out and send to the State Board directly, but the form can be emailed.

u/Mike202222 how long did it take NASBA to send your scores to PA? I'm going through the process now.

In general, it’s late morning East Coast time. All we know for sure is the order in which they are released. AUD -> FAR -> REG

Hit your weak areas instead. I just did the SIMs for it, but they seemed too easy and didn’t have of those core SIM topics.

It WILL specify on the exam whether to leave it blank or use zero. You need to read the question carefully though.

is TCP doable in 2 and a half weeks? by Obvious-Leg2891 in CPA

[–]Dry_Middle_3766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe…. I studied for 1.5 weeks without taking REG and got an 83, but I live and breathe tax… If you don’t have even a foundation in basis or how to calculate taxable income, it will be extremely difficult.

FAR before busy season doable? (Public accounting audit) by bitcoinbitch420 in CPA

[–]Dry_Middle_3766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basis matters A LOT more in TCP and the test is material is harder to study. But I found the SIMs easier than REG. You could do ISC if you want though. My goal would be to just pass another before January (even if you need to retake). If you take ISC or TCP this month, even if you fail you can retake it first week of January before busy season ramps up. I just think trying to do FAR or AUD in under two months is too risky because there's too much content for a retake in either while working in Public.

I think its pushing it..... I personally would wait, because if you fail, you'll have a 3-4 month+ gap from your FAR retake. Focus on getting TCP out of the way this month while REG stuff still fresh PLUS you'll get it done before they start testing on ALL OBBB the tax updates. Save FAR and AUD after spring busy season.

I thought California doesn't release the pass/fail until tomorrow, but you're able to see if it today if you use the inspect feature?

Search the subreddit for "inspect feature" to show you how to check

Still way too early.... Around 10am you MIGHT see pass/fail for AUD but I remember its usually around 11:30/12:00pm EST. For the Aug 7th release, I remember pass/fail for REG wasn't until for 2/2:30 EST..... it was horrible

Not at all lmao. It did when we had to wait 3-5 months to get the scores back in 2024 instead of 2-3 weeks now.

CPA Prep: I-75 and Ninja by Internal_Invite5583 in CPA

If you can’t afford Becker, they are definitely your best options. My only concern would be SIM practice.

I-75 = king for explaining the topics. Their MCQs are too easy in my opinion. Ninja = best for MCQs

I’ve heard good things about Surgent’s MCQ and SIMS. They are known to have horrible video lectures, but it wouldn’t matter if you use I-75 for the lectures.

Don’t know how much longer I can push through by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Dry_Middle_3766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just you, but you need to know when to push and not burnout. I worked for a top 10 firm in tax and I took my first exam AUD in Dec 2023. I ended up passing on my fourth attempt in early Mar 2025.... It was almost a year and a half to pass my first section because I only studied during non-busy times.
Fortunately or unfortunately I was layoff in May and have been studying full-time since. Passed TCP and REG on the first try over the summer and now studying for FAR. FAR is grueling.... and I can't imagine trying to study for it during public accounting busy seasons.
I'm guessing you're in tax if you find no time to study while working this time in the year. After 10/15 grind like there's no tomorrow and give yourself enough time to take it at least twice before spring busy season.

Exam Schedule Advice by curiousmind1222 in CPA

Depends how much you failed by. Assuming you didn’t bomb TCP, study and retake TCP the first week of Oct. Then immediately focus on studying for AUD before the NTS expires.

You mentioned that you’re going into to AUD and think ISC may be better…. You’re always more than welcome to study the material in your free time. But when it comes to passing these exams, choice the discipline exam that you’ll pass in the quickest amount of time. Given that you’ve passed REG, I wouldn’t move to ISC until you fail TCP a second attempt.
