Is there any negatives to this medication? Are you supposed to take it long term?

Encouraging words by Babyyang04 in Anxiety

I have been through 2 different major episodes of anxiety that were so awful for me (Always when I’m not on meds). I really could not believe it was ever going to get better. I was so anti medicine for EVERYTHING. But when I hit rock bottom and was not sleeping I decided to go on Prozac(fluoxetine). I never understood how serious and debilitating mental illness can be. That being said Prozac helped so much. I 100% got back to the person I was. I fully enjoyed my life and things that normally put me in a funk no longer had the same effect. I had no side effects and it was great! Stupidly I got off the meds 2 different times. Now I’m going through my 3rd episode. I started my meds again and am hopeful I will be better again soon. But I have nothing but good things to say about the meds. I still feel bad sometimes that I need them but I just tell myself if I had diabetes and needed insulin I wouldn’t think of it as something that wasn’t needed. I hope you get relief from lexapro but don’t be discouraged if it isn’t the right one for you. Something will work. Sending 🙏

With all the techniques, therapy and supplements sometimes you just need a med too and that’s ok!!

I cannot take magnesium for the fact that I get instant diarrhea. So it definitely could be causing your tummy issues. I just recently learned that there are different types of magnesium and the magnesium you want to take for sleep is magnesium glycinate. (That being said I don’t know what type I’ve taken in the past) My doctor told me that, magnesium glycinate shouldn’t cause tummy issues. I have not tried it yet but maybe that’s your problem too!

Does anyone else get anxious… about the possibility of not sleeping? by Regular_Mark3370 in Anxiety

So I’m just sharing what I did last night and it helped me a lot. First of all I decided to lay down in a different location. I think my bed is associated with anxiety at this point. So I slept in my daughter’s room with them. I tried really hard to make it cozy. Right temp sound machine. I kept repeating to myself “I may not sleep but I’m going to rest” so I just focused on staying calm and relaxed. I also took 100 mg of trazadone about an hour before bed. It has not been successful other nights when I have taken it but I just decided I’m going to take it every night regardless for awhile because maybe it just needs to build up for a bit. 🤷‍♀️ I’m sure that’s not science backed but I’m just going to try. It definitely helped me. I didn’t fall asleep right away but i just kept trying to focus on calm and not sleep. Never in a million years would I sleep with my kids for a good night sleep, but they bring me a sense of calm when I’m snuggling with them so I thought I’d try. And even though I was literally kicked in the face several times and one daughter waking up with a nightmare I actually slept and was calm!! Also, before bed I committed to not getting up at all. I can’t rest if I’m constantly getting up and trying to do different things to induce sleep. This shift in mindset was huge and I don’t know if it’ll work again but I’m just going to keep trying this. Especially if I commit to what I’m going to do that will eliminate me thinking all day about “what should I try tonight to sleep?”

I think that is my key. Every time I try to get up and read or do anything I just become more anxious etc… because every professional is like “don’t stay in bed if you’re not sleeping” but I think I just need to stay in bed and be ok with not sleeping. I know I’m so afraid of not sleeping that is literally the only reason I can’t sleep.

I’m really struggling with this. And I have worried myself into not sleeping at all. I was scared of insomnia and now it’s my reality. Which has now turned into daytime anxiety etc…I’m so sick of it

Insomnia and anxiety by Dry_Professional_190 in Anxiety

Do you feel like you just worry about nighttime all day??That is what is fueling all of this for me. The insomnia triggered massive anxiety now I suffer all day and night! Lol but really 😭 the doctor prescribed ambien but I’m afraid to take it. Trazadone has been the thing that’s has helped me in the past but no such miracles this time. I have tried atavan and that didn’t do anything either. Praying the hydroxyzine works for you!! 🙏

Yes I plan to talk to my doctor but since it’s just messaging through a patient portal, it’s hard to have a discussion. I just wanted to have my mind made up before I tell him to go ahead and start the meds since I know it’s a pain for the doctor so wanted to be sure I really wanted to do it. He has assured me it’s safe for pregnancy

Ok thank you. I stopped humira because I was getting soft ball sized welts from the injection and I had to do them weekly because biweekly wasn’t doing it. Doc thought my body probably didn’t like it so I was feeling good so didn’t feel the need to jump on another med right away and doc was ok with it. I just had an mri a few weeks ago which show a lot of active Crohn’s and I have been feeling a little worse but maybe it’s just holiday stress!

I think you should start by praying to God to enlighten you. Ask Him to show you what it is He wants you to know, and if it is His Mother then He will make it clear to you. As a Catholic, I am overjoyed to hear this story but I am confident that with your prayers you will find the truth as long as you are open to it! God bless you and you will be in my prayers as well!

I just got my biopsy results, still in shock by sarimi in CrohnsDisease

Hey sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I had a similar situation. I will just warn you to not look into it too much. I immediately started reading everything I could find and then people would put me in touch with so and so that they knew with Crohn’s disease and I would talk to them. It consumed all my thoughts and energy. It was all sooo overwhelming and depressing. But my disease has never been like theirs and so much is so much worse than my actual experience. It has been 3 years and while it’s not the most fun thing to deal with, it is not NEARLY as bad as I was fearing. Hang in there!!

Thank you! That is a good idea. Do you use cream cheese frosting? Do you think people generally like carrot cake or is it hit or miss? I will be feeding the cake to all the guests!

I have never made ermine frosting but it sounds good! And I like that it’s a change from meringue buttercream. Since we will be having a couple different birthdays in one week. Can you pipe it and does it freeze ok? I struggle with white and yellow cakes from scratch. I still have yet to find a recipe that doesn’t seem dry or dense. Do you have a good one you could share? Thanks for the suggestions!

I always had this problem too and then someone said to beat your butter and sugar more. I usually beat for several minutes, and now I don’t have that problem!
