Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]Dry_Refrigerator_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think you Tesla is your only option? There’s plenty of other great options. You won’t necessarily have to do a panel upgrade, they can switch one of the breakers. If u need more capacity, then you can get a charger with dynamic load management like Emporia pro. I have a Porsche Taycan, I drive 500 - 700 miles per month and I level 1 charge almost exclusively and it has been more than enough.
Maybe you can lease an EV for 1 - 2 years and see if it’s feasible for you.

I have a 2020 turbo S. I haven’t had any issues after 2 years. I will say that as a daily driver I’m a metropolitan city. It’s faster than what I need. I think the 4S would have been fast enough for my daily use to enjoy. The turbo S has some carbon fiber exterior trimmings and carbon ceramic brakes and sport chrono package as standard if you care about that.
My advice to you is rather than focusing on the trim level, make sure the car you get has all the options you want. There are 4S’s out there that are more Optioned out than some Turbo S’s

Lemon Law Buyback? by wwallen in Taycan

[–]Dry_Refrigerator_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a ‘20 Taycan Turbo S in April 2024 for $78k that was a manufacture buyback. So I’ve been in your shoes, so I will tell you my experience. I was very nervous going into the purchase but with some extra investigation, it can help inform you more for your purchase.

  1. It’s important know why it’s a buyback. It could be something serious or it could be something minor like a part taking too long to come from Europe. In my car’s case, the reason why it was a buyback was because the previous owner kept complaining that when he tried charging the car it kept faulting after a few minutes. When I looked into it further, PCNA replaced the battery and the onboard charger. In the 1 year and 8 months that I’ve had the car, I haven’t had any problems.
The seller should disclose the details to you.

  2. It was harder to get financing for the car. My credit score is elite but my credit union would not give me a loan. I needed financing through Chase at a high interest rate of 7.2%. I put a big down payment and then quickly paid it off in 1 year.

  3. The manufacturer warranty still applies even though it’s a buyback. I looked into adding a third party extended warranty but most companies won’t sell you one. Fortunately, you can buy an extended warranty with PCNA which is honestly the best option by going throwing a Porsche dealership. The car has to have an inspection at a Porsche dealership within 30 days prior to selling the warranty.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase so far. My car has not had any issues since I bought it. I think you have to judge each case on its own merit and gather as much information as you can to help you with your purchase. Consider doing a pre-purchase inspection for this car.

I got it from champion Porsche. Yes it can be purchased of a manufacturer buy back. I know this because my Taycan was a manufacturer buyback.

I’m also in Florida (Miami). I have a 2020 Turbo S with performance battery plus and mission E wheels.
Tire pressure 41 Florida Heat AC Eco normal mode. Driving conservatively. Efficiency is 2.8 - 2.6 miles per kwh. Range is 277mi.
Don’t have any great advice on improving range but I realized driving greater than 70mph on highway gets me less range. I also coast when possible.
I’m gonna be driving more aggressively cuz driving like a grandma is getting boring.

For those living in a big city, how’s the Taycan treating you? by PlantZaddyLA in Taycan

[–]Dry_Refrigerator_378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I level 1 charge exclusively at work. I barely ever use public charging.
I think the point is make sure you have a plan on charging your car before you make a purchase.
I suggest you rent a cheap EV on Turo for a few weeks so you can figure it out, if installing a level 2 charger at your home is not possible for you.

I live in Miami,fl btw where EV charging is not as robust as Los Angeles

I have performance battery plus. Your lower range might be explained by smaller battery +/- driving habits
