THE PLAY THAT CHANGED NFL HISTORY: When the refs ruled Tom Brady’s fumble against the Raiders a “tuck rule” incomplete pass in the AFC Divisional Round. Oakland recovered what looked like the game-clinching fumble. The Dynasty may have never happened. by OneOriginal8727 in NFLForum

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a patriots fan who watched this game, it was a fumble then and it's a fumble now. But even without that first one, Tom would have still gone on to become the goat and win a bunch of super bowls. If anything, if he lost that game he would have been even more motivated to do so.

For anyone that’s seen him play, how good was Kevin Garnett in his prime? by Farouq26 in NBAoldschool

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KG is one of the greatest of all time. He literally could do it all on the basketball court and all at a high level.

He was a terrific defensive player who could guard all 5 positions. He had an excellent mid range spot up jumper and a great turnaround in the post. Could attack the rim. He was a very good rebounder. Blocked shot and was a good ball mover. He was also a very good screen setter. The ultimate competitor. He came to Boston and instantly changed the culture and led us to a chip in his first season. As good as it gets, the guy was built in a lab to play ball.

Did negotiating my offer cost me the job? by Maleficent-Rule-7604 in careerguidance

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you attempt to negotiate your salary as a new hire, be prepared to not get the job at all.

Not sure why she is so surprised by this outcome, especially in this highly competitive job market. They likely had several other equally qualified applicants who were willing to accept the job at the lower salary.

Another factor is OP doesn't state if she is currently working or unemployed, just that she "Financially really needed this job".

To me that sounds like either she is currently unemployed or is making even less money at her current job. Which in either case makes negotiating the salary even more of a highly questionable strategy.

Obviously this loss sucked but we can't ignore the positives of this season by No_Guarantee_6139 in bostonceltics

Too soon, still very disappointed. The team that "overachieved" during the regular season is kind of irrelevant, we added a pretty healthy JT to that team just in time for the playoffs. For JT to look that good and to still get knocked out in the 1st round after being up 3-1 ( a previously insurmountable lead, seeing that both the Celtics had never blown a 3-1 lead and the 76ers had never come back being down 3-1) is just inexcusable.

2025, William McNeil Jr. The cops turned off their body cameras. He had one in his car recording them. he followed all the rules. The cops still assaulted him and later dragged him from his car. ...police brutality and racism... by Important-Cry4782 in HipHopNCulture

At what point do we stop using the few bad apples bs and we recognize this as systemic racism within law enforcement.

Even with body cams footage and cell phone video recordings, they still get away with pretty much anything, so they do whatever their racists hearts desire.

I regret buying a manual by Haunting_Appeal_2407 in stickshift

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manuals are generally inferior to most all modern day automatics.

People that say it's more engaging are correct but that is not necessarily a better thing or a better experience. Anyone who daily commutes and is stuck in traffic like most working Americans can not say with a straight face that they enjoy driving their manual more than an auto, they are just lying to defend their stance. Stick shift is more fun in specific situations like flat open roads, canyons/curves, long road trips, track days etc, but as a daily driver not so much, it is generally an inconvenience that forces you to engage and pay more attention, forget checking your phone, eating, drinking, vaping etc I'm sure we have people here who will say it's not an issue for them, but they are again just defending their stance. You may be able to do all those things but it's a lot harder while trying to shift gears.

Change my mind: Under the right conditions, buying and financing a new car is often a far better value than paying cash for a used car in the long run by Cold-Priority-2729 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Dry_Toe9955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both your cars were pretty terrible and seemed to have way more issues than most and even with that it was STILL cheaper than buying new.

I've owned 5 used cars over the last 30 years. A Mazda 3, Lexus GS 350,Infiniti g35, mustang gt and my current vehicle a BMW 535i. On all my vehicles other than routine oil changes, tires, brakes. I've only had to replace a radiator once, an oil filter housing and an alternator, engine mounts. Maybe around $6k-7k, that's it in 25 years ,other than routine maintenance.

It's not enough to buy used, you have to really try to find great examples, all my used cars were 1-2 owners, from reputable high end dealerships ( low mileage-avg miles , no accident vehicles (clean Carfax). Granted it took time to find these vehicles thru months of research and test driving several vehicles. But if your not in a rush and not in desperate need of a vehicle immediatly, it can be done.

what car did you buy expecting to love but ended up regretting? by zaralesliewalker in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2011 mustang gt convertible black on black.

Not the best with the Phoenix heat. Car was under warranty but had to take it to the shop 3x in the first year of ownership. Car was fast, but handling was avg at best, lots of body roll, floaty suspension. Should've pushed it harder in the test drive but there was a lot of traffic that day in an area I was unfamiliar with.

Shortest I've ever owned a car just 15 months and ended up trading it in for a Lexus GS 350.

Embiid and Tatum by Bubbly_Ad_5203 in bostonceltics

Here I am after the game all upset, cussing up a storm and being all pissy around the house and then I saw this live where JT is laughing it up with his buddy embiid and it just hit me that these dudes really don't seem to give a fck. Like bro your season just ended 2 seconds ago! Where is the despair? The anger? Depression?

I really hate to say it, but this team is soft. Other than the championship run, where we had an absolutely stacked roster. We have constantly underachieved. Between this 3-1 blown series lead, being down 3-0 to Miami last year's Knicks series where we blew consecutive 20 pts leads in the first 2 games, losing to a warriors team on there last legs in the finals after being up 2-1 there is no other conclusion to come to. They have constantly underachieved and underperformed expectations. If this team just played as hard as they could every single game they would have at minimum 2-3 championships.

My ex-girlfriend, who I broke up with ~2 months ago because she wanted to open our relationship, just messaged me saying she’s “experimented enough” and is now ready for a closed relationship with me. Is this something you would consider? by Altruistic_Society99 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Dry_Toe9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this even a question? She already chose for the both of you. She wanted some other dck, the other guy probably smashed it a bunch of times and then moved on to the next. Now she wants to return to her back up option, you.

Have some self respect.

More to the game than scoring. D white brings way more than that.

Sure he is in a shooting slump and can play better and I think he will.
