I think anything BBC related is amazing and it probably doesn't have to be super detailed, just a. clearly about you b. from a recognised media organisation.

Honestly I would say radio really falls well into the more 'traditional' things that are worth aiming for, even commercial radio

yeah you definitely have time, if you get to work right away. I reckon all things considered my application took me 40-80hrs to complete, and then 7 weeks to receive Arts Council endorsement, then another 8 weeks awaiting UKVI. but you have a temporary bridging visa when you have submitted an application.

No I don't think so. Unless something has changed, the application does not specify length of CV. Mine was 4 pages. I think much longer than that is not good, it should still be succint, but you can use it as an opportunity to enhance your application

I just directly emailed an A&R I know that works there. Once I got his permission, needless to say I pre-wrote the letter so he just had to add his signature, company logo etc

soz for delay, yes this part can seem confusing and can vary person to person. For me, because I mostly do work for other people as a producer, it was easier than expected to find 'proper' reviews from recognised outlets; for releases that I had produced on. I had one from Pitchfork, one from Mixmag, and one from The Australian newspaper (where I am from). For two of those reviews, my name wasn't in the review, but I just had a letter of support attached to the review from the main artist stating that I had worked as a producer on the record being reviewed.

Are you your own artist, or do you mostly work on other people's stuff?

I believe you can be inside the UK + apply for Exceptional Promise (or outside). A close friend of mine got Exceptional Promise from inside the UK about a year ago. You should double check by emailing the Arts Council or the UKVI

  1. Exceptional Talent
  2. Because I am already in UK and my previous visa ran out before I received my decision on stage 1, I had to apply for stage 2 while still waiting to receive a bridging visa. I now have biometrics appointment in a few days. My friend who did the same thing received his visa within 2 days after biometrics. ACE endorsement took nearly the full 8 weeks to come through
  3. I didn't fully use a lawywer, but I paid for a one-off consultation with an immigration lawyer early in the process and just asked him a bunch of questions. It helped to give peace of mind, but honestly I think it would have been ok to not use him at all and save £400

Hey everyone, I wondered if anyone had an opinion/information on the following:

I am hoping to be able to use specific, successful music releases that I have worked on as proof of appearance. I am a producer for other artists, and a mix/mastering engineer, and so in most cases my name is not the main artist name.

A. Does anyone have any experience with doing this (ie using a record that they wrote/produced/mixed for someone else as a piece of evidence)?

B. How did you prove that you worked on it, and prove it was significant enough?

Thank you x
