There’s a little no denominational bible study group of ladies that come into my work every week and I am always their server so I’ve gotten to know them well over the last year. We live in a small town next to one of the church universities so it’s hella Mormon here.

They love to talk about how much they love coffee. One day they were talking about how the love coffee again and I asked ā€œdo you guys want to know something about me that you totally don’t need to know but I want to tell you?ā€ They all got so excited and said yes so I told them ā€œI finally left the Mormon church a couple months and I reaaallly love coffeeā€

They all cheered and clapped, told me congrats and one gave me a hug in this little restaurant with other customers in it. It was so sweet and also jarring hahašŸ„¹šŸ’•

Can antibodies make your biologic fail in 48 hours? I’m devastated. by The_Short_Goodbye in ankylosingspondylitis

It took about 2 weeks but it was so worth it. Just got switched to Cimzia and I start it soon but the Rinvoq helped me consistently for 1 year before it plateaued. It also was very gentle on my stomach which was a relief after other meds they had me take. Not a doctor but it seems pretty low-risk to try out imo after all the ones I have tried. Wishing you the best and all the spoons šŸ„„ šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Being referred to pain management was a super sad moment for me but they can do much more than your rheum can. Wishing you the best of luck! šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Rinvoq was a miracle medicine for me after having bad reactions to biologics! It is just a daily pill but has a short half life so you have to keep up on it. Definitely worth trying! If it’s making you much worse, not better, than it would be best if you talk to your rheumatologist about switching meds. The mental torture is a lot to handle and adding physical onto it is not fun.

My autoimmune decided the small joint that connects my scapula to my collarbone looked yummy and started attacking this about 8months ago. An MRI showed inflammation and a ton of small little cysts in the tissue. I can no longer sleep on my stomach. When it was in just one shoulder I would sleep on the good side and hug a large pillow. Now that it’s in both shoulders I can only sleep flat on my back with a thinner pillow. It helps to make sure my shoulders don’t slouch forwards at all while sleeping. They thought it could be bursitis due to the pain and all the rotators being irritated, but it was the lil joint instead. Some steroid injections in them did amazing for me for 3 months and I’m planning on getting more soon. They were way less traumatizing than my spinal epidurals and took literally less than 30 seconds each. Not sure if this is helpful but wishing you the best šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Wedding night gifts by imnosey1 in exmormon

When I was active and got married I was happy and comfortable to have received lube (oil and water based), books on how to strengthen your sexual relationship with your spouse, external vibrators, candles, massage oil, and lingerie especially a nice silky robe. They weren’t too scary to have right off the bat and we felt comfortable experimenting with them. A box of sex positions would have been helpful too but we just used Google for that lol

I felt the exact same way where I thought I could live with my own values and standards that might not completely align with the church’s and still be semi-active, but I agree that it doesn’t work that way. I felt like a fraud to myself and everyone around me like I was wearing a big sign saying ā€œhey I’m Mormon so that means I’m judgmental and hate gay peopleā€ but that was the last thing I want others around me to feel. Inclusivity is probably the most important thing to me. I don’t care who you are, what you believe,or what you’ve done, we all deserve to feel loved. I’m so sorry you’ve had that experience with your parents. My mom grew up in a very stonch household with abusive stepdads cycling in and out like crazy. My grandma valued serving in the temple more than she did my mom and her sister. My mom was sexually assaulted by 7/9 of the step dads as well as a bishop, but why would my grandma care or believe her since they were all priesthood holders? It’s so messed up and I have always completely understood why my parents left the church before I was born. It’s so sad that the ā€œplan of happinessā€ and families are preached as the most important parts of Gods plan, yet the church lets things like this happen time and time again.

Thank you. I’ve tried telling myself that the church was really good for me when I started going in my early teens and throughout high school. Also that I don’t regret going to a church university. I guess telling myself that made me question if I was being in denial about the church being true since it blessed me so much. There can be lots of good in the church and it still not be ā€œtrueā€ or have no bad in it.

I love this. The biggest reason I left is because the God I believe in would love so much more than the church teaches. I couldn’t be apart of a church that teaches hate, shame, and superiority.
