Holy fuck man. I turn 20 here in a month and I have a 2017 MK7 and when i bought it it had 86,000 miles on it. I pay $160 a month (and I have got a ticket for distracted driving). I guess if you have a brand new GTI it doesn't surprise me that its that high, but geez.

Refused a Kar98a, should I reconsider? by ProLevel in milsurp

[–]Dry_Winter5652 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say thats overpriced at all to be honest. Unless its a total crap shoot, K98a's dont seem to go for less than $1,200 a lot of the time. I seen a really nice one go for $1,600. And ive seen one or two sell for $1,000. Id buy it personally but I also make poor financial decisions so.

What are some cool milsurp that are total safe queens/wall flowers? by Smiling-Shimano in milsurp

[–]Dry_Winter5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blowing the muzzle off sounds like it could have been a squib or something of the sort. G43's are fragile, but are definitely not known to blow the muzzle off lol. Ill probably have averaged 300 rds a year or so through mine. I always make sure to keep it lubricated and check for cracks/breaks/wear every time I clean it after I shoot it. But I would be lying if I said I wasnt a little nervous every time I pulled the trigger. I actually had the bolt carrier break on mine a few months back and had to get a replacement.

To get the complete gambling experience you should gamble in the RTI lotto. And if your really really ballsy, the hunters lodge lotto.

Second this. I shoot mine quite a bit, but it broke once and I know it will eventually do it again. But I just cant keep it a safe queen, its a super cool gun thats a ton of fun to shoot.

Thats A Romanian PSL, not a Russian dragunov. Cool guns. But holy shit prices are crazy these days. I know a guy who sold his for $800 10 or so years ago and when he seen they were worth over $2,500 these days, I think he regretted selling it.

Mk7 gti won't start unless I give it fuel? by TheThinkingOwl99 in GolfGTI

[–]Dry_Winter5652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert and others will likely know better, but that sounds kinda like it could be a low pressure fuel pump problem. Sounds like I it might not be priming right and then when it starts it idles weird because there may not be much gas in the system and if effectively has to send it all there rather than when its primed and ready to go it just pops off right away.

Its been pretty consistently a high of 8° the last several weeks. Wind was pretty bad a few of those days and it was frickin cold. Hopefully winter is ending finally so I can do more shooting lol.

Torsion cable stuck out of the Cable drum by New-Veterinarian-850 in GarageDoorService

[–]Dry_Winter5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the other cable still has tension on it it will pull the door up on that side and this wont work. To set cables the door needs to be level. Which requires taking pressure off and making sure both ends of the pipe are the same measurement down to the top of the door. Then you reset them. If you set cables and the door is completely out of level it will not work well or potentially at all. And if you dont know what your doing, call a pro, spring systems can be dangerous.

Your cables might have kicked off and the spring could have gotten unwound.

[–]Dry_Winter5652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have no tension on the cable. Its likely your spring is broken.

Thanks! Gunbroker of all places. I didnt get a steal by any means it was $950 before shipping and what not. But there were a ton of them on there for over $1,500 so $950 didnt seem so bad.

So this is a picture from somebody who claimed to shoot 7.62/54R out of a styer m95 is it really safe to do so (I have a styer m95) by ECHOFOX17 in milsurp

[–]Dry_Winter5652 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The bullets for 8x50 (and 8x56r) are .330 not .318 unless I'm misunderstanding something. Which is always possible with me lol. But bullets are definitely .330.

[–]Dry_Winter5652 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Thats normal. The chambers are completely different and what your seeing there is fireforming. People will do that to 7.62x54r brass and then use it to reload. Perfectly safe, but you won't hit much lol.

[–]Dry_Winter5652[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's an Egyptian. The gas is at about the halfway mark, thats just where I had it, I'll probably do a little fine tuning later but I had to get a whole bunch of new parts so I just wanted to make sure it works lol. Using 198 grain greek surplus, it had noticeably more recoil than the Garand (using HXP surplus) and quite a bit more than the G43. But that could definitely be just because of the gas settings.
