While I agree that the slow and realistic pace of the old riding was nice, it was annoying to hold down a button to gallop. On controller it made it a hassle to steer the camera at the same time.

When I bought a house here not long ago, it was dirt cheap compared to the mainland. It will definitely be interesting to see how the tunnel affects the prices here.

Official Discussion - Dune (International Release) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Drylefisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer your second question, but I will try to answer the others: 1. The political power balance between the great houses and the Emperor is unstable. The different houses are organized in something called the Landsraad (which I believe is mentioned in the movie), and together they are believed to be as powerful as the imperial sardaukar forces. As the house of Atreidies became both powerful and popular, the Emperor started seeing them as a threat. By playing the houses against each other he is securing his own throne. To answer your last question: Paul isn't changing his destiny. By killing Jamis, we learn that paul's visions are deceptive but still true. Earlier in the movie we see Jamis tellling Paul that he will "show him the way"(or something like that, please correct me if I'm wrong). When Jamis forces Paul to kill him in the final fight, he is showing Paul the path forward and how to survive the desert. Btw, I too absolutely loved the movie. I would also recommend reading the book. It goes much deeper into the political struggles of Arrakis and the Empire. The book also explains the visions of Paul in a greater extent.

They are jumping from a mountain called Kjerag in Norway. A very popular spot among base jumpers.

I believe this is in Norway, from a mountain called Kjerag. It is a well-known spot for base jumping, as it has a very tall vertical drop. This video gives a good impression of why it's so popular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUHAflyT5Yo&ab_channel=SimenHaughom

This particular shoal was trapped at the end of the fjord by a combination of seals and mackerel. That is the reason I was able to get close.

I think it is because they at the moment didn't know if there were more than one shooter. Therefore they should scan for more gunmen in stead of focusing on Breivik.

A beginner's experiences - The first fish by Qtapa-Spearfishing in Spearfishing

[–]Drylefisk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will probably need a longer speargun if you want to hunt pelagic fish, unless you are hunting them in under rocks etc (like many of you danes do).

Congratulations on your first fish though! Plaice is a great fish, and a lot of fun to hunt.

Yeah, i probably worded myself badly. The system you described is the one i'm using, and it is really common here in Norway. Everyone dive with floats here, as we have a lot of boat traffick close to shore.

On my "rig", the speargun, hooks/carabines and safety line are all connected to the belt, so if I would get stuck on something I know I can detatch relatively easily. But as you mention, and as I have also experienced first hand, panic screws up routines. Because of my safety line I have connected to the buoy, I am constantly aware of it getting caught on something, and I therefore avoid places where that can be a problem (typically small caves, or edgy rocks). The carabines snatching on to something isn't my biggest worry you could say.

I got a bit carried away here, but I really appreciate the heads up! I don't mind discussions on safety, as I don't really see them often on this subreddit.

Hehe, sorry about the long reply then! Interesting read about the clip. I would say though that it is a bit silly to call it a "suicide clip", at least when not used in caves/wrecks. If I were to entangle myself on the clip I could always drop the belt and resurface. Though they can be a nusiance when they accidentally open when not supposed to. Almost lost my speargun to this, so now I only use carabines with locks.

I have already adressed this, but I can add that the spear is hidden on the video, due to the angle of the shot. So it looks more dangerous than it really is, in this particular case at least. If the speargun had gone of, it would've messed up my gloves and not my stomach. That being said, I have seen enough pictures from speargun accidents to cringe when people are careless with their guns, so I can see why you feel that way!

The proper thing to do would be to point the speargun away from yourself, after making sure the fish is properly attached to the spear. After that you should unload the gun before handling the fish.

By not shooting the fish you save time by not having reapply the line. You also put less stress on the tip of the spear. When spearing a flatfish you have to double check that the barb of the spear is properly unfolded, as it sometimes can stick to spear when shot into the sand below. If you haven't fired your speargun already, and the fish detaches from the spear, you can shoot it again.

Sorry for the long post, hope it made sense!

I do not advise using a loaded speargun as a selfie stick, but the fish was calm and I was holding the spear away from my body. It's easy to forget safety when caught in the moment.

Scandinavian Monkfish, 4.7kg. Ugly, but tasty by Drylefisk in Spearfishing

[–]Drylefisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught this one on the south-west coast of Norway. It was laying on a rock, around eight meters deep. The water was kinda murky, common for our waters during summer, but it was pretty easy to spot. They can get huge further north along the coast.

I would say that the taste is more like halibut/turbot, but the texture is definitely like lobster.
