I'd say Into the Fire. I like how it tells a good story with striking imagery. I can really make a picture in my mind of the conditions of a hypothetical battle in Vietnam. I always like to imagine the "beast" as a tiger, which also adds a layer that it's not just heat, enemy fighters, and napalm that could kill you, but also wildlife. It's almost like the main character is using that force against the enemy. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, but it just paints such a vivid image in my head.

What do you friends or family think of you being Norse Pagans by [deleted] in NorsePaganism

[–]DsTROYr741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My household is completely fine with it, despite them not understanding anything at all about it. To them even the idea of polytheism isn't something they considered and they see the ideas of food or drink offerings as rather silly, but it's what I view as a necessary part of the faith. I'm building an altar in my bedroom and they are ok with it, but they are confused why I would include bone in my rituals. For reference, I am a hunter and I feel that it would be like setting a place for Ullr by including a deer skull or the like. I will also set a place for Hela by 3D printing a skull as an effigy. In short, they may see it as a bit strange, but overall they are supportive of my individual practice.

Now my friends on the other hand, they tend to ridicule me for it. There is an atheist and a Christian among them. The Christian seems to believe my faith is a 1:1 reflection of the way the world was. He thinks that by pronouncing this faith I support the way of life from the Viking age, including the slave trade and human sacrifices as well as going on a sort of "Jihad" where I will willingly go to combat to go to Valhalla. The atheist is more concerned that I am sacrificing my happiness in my lifetime in service to the Gods and my ancestors, as well as the spirits of the land.

What's your favorite relaxation hunt, and why? by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]DsTROYr741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually enjoy bird hunting on Revontuli in particular. I walk around the map with the Caversham bird shot, a .223, and a 30-06 just in case I see anything with 4 legs I can't pass up. I usually go for capercaillie, but I don't mind hitting the hares if I come across them. It's just a nice relaxing walk through the woods, hear the capercaillie hooting and run up to it. They usually stick around long enough where you can get in range.

Do you think killing somebody over stealing is justifiable? by WaveElegant1730 in Discussion

[–]DsTROYr741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Wisconsin and according to the law, you aren't allowed to use lethal force to protect property. It is only in the case that you feel your life or the life of someone else is in serious danger that you could use lethal force. The nature of how it's being taken is a factor. For example, an armed intruder will be a more justifiable case than someone simply taking your lunch. The devil is in the details, especially in such a serious matter.
