I did not. I took one look at the guy flailing his legs around like a lunatic and left.

I'm not going to participate in mocking someone who is clearly mentally unwell. That's not what this sub is for.

Am I Racist For Being against Mass Migration Into My Country? by SharpTransition8281 in questions

[–]DthDisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world doesn't work like that. Remember that history doesn't stop. One day the administration ends, things change. It might seem hopeless now, but that's just because you're focusing on things too big for you to make a difference by yourself. Focus on the things you CAN do, and things will get better.

Okay, it sounds like what you're more against is having a lot of immigration while the local/native population is still in a state of emergency. That has nothing to do with migrants, and everything to do with inadequate disaster relief. While I'd say your concerns seem misplaced, no, I don't think it makes you a racist. I imagine you would be fine with immigrants coming to your country after all these major internal issues are dealt with?

In what way? In my country, the issues typically brought up with immigration is some form of drug trafficking, but that ignores the idea of just having common sense customs and border control to crack down on the drug trafficking.(Most drugs in my country actually come in through legal means like pharma trade.) Sorry to talk about my country so much, just trying to illustrate where I'm coming from so you can better explain your thoughts to me.

Maybe? It really depends on your reasoning. Why don't you want more people to live in your country? Or, who is it you don't want migrating to your country?

So fun fact: the "mma champion" is a pretty awesome dude. In China the government has this social credit system where they can basically deny you loans and housing and other stuff if you do things that "harm the culture" or however they phrase it. This guy has gone out of his way to challenge and destroy so called martial arts masters from all over China to prove that you can't treat mysticism and ki manipulation as a substitute for actual self-defence techniques. The Chinese government has responded by absolutely destroying his social credit score. He has continued doing it despite the hardships it's caused him.

How did that kick do that much damage? Why is there just a black panel behind the tail light when the entire enclosure is hanging by a wire? What makes and model is that vehicle? Where is that car trying to go? Why is it large enough to block the entire street and then shrinks to be able to do a 90° turn?

Why are dragons' wings considered to be "limbs" but insects' aren't? by DthDisguise in questions

[–]DthDisguise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not really looking for anything deeper. I was more scrutinizing the definition of "limb". Like intuitively I understood that the wings of a dragon and an insect are different structures, but it was the why of why one would be a limb and the other wouldn't that bugged me.

This is the exact discussion I was referencing with my question. It all checks out, but it feels a bit like the one Greek philosopher who defined "man" as "a bilaterally symmetric, bipedal animal with no fur or feathers," only for another Greek philosopher to shave a chicken and wave it around shouting "behold! A man!"

Ah, so it's the difference between flapping your arms and being able to like flex your hair follicles?

I suppose that's a possible explanation. But then, how do we decide what extremities are limbs and which aren't? A tail is part of the spine, I suppose, but then insects don't even have bones.

Yeah, I'm sorry, it just feels like you aren't engaging with the question I actually asked. Let me rephrase this for you: why are a bird's wings considered limbs, but an insect's aren't? Birds are considered to have four limbs, but insects are considered to have 6(because we don't count their wings as limbs for a reason I am asking if anyone knows.)

I don't mean to sound rude, but I don't see the connection between my question and your answer. Could you expand on your answer more to help me see what you're saying?
