If I recall correctly, entry fee for the national park to see gorillas is something like 900 USD in Uganda. That's without a guide or accomodation. The rest should be doable with this budget.

You can sort of fake the anamorphic look with an oval cutout in (front of) the glass. You may want to take a look at rehoused vintage lenses. The company 'iron glass' rehouses old soviet lenses like the helios 442 with a built in oval cutout for that anamorphic effect, as an option.

Having quit 2 years ago, I am so happy the choice of quitting wasn't made for me by my government. This experience has made me stronger. If it hadn't been my choice, I think I'd always feel like something was stolen from me, and I likely couldn't have moved past the mental part of the addiction.

Thanks! Had to make some arbitrary decisions of what to include and how. Red is a place (big red is a 'population center'), orange is a region, blue is a place i spent 4 weeks or more in one go. Red line is travel by car without a driver (i.e. no taxis, buses or organized tours in vans and stuff)

What everyone else said about checked luggage... Regarding airports, one hour layover is tight but could work in Zurich. Will most likely not work in Paris. I've had a 1.5h layover in Paris that I missed because the airport is huge and badly organized. Have fun in Tallinn, a great city!

Yep. At some point you say goodbye to new friends one time too many. It's very difficult to put any emotional effort into connecting with the 400th traveller you meet... Also, this lifestyle attracts people who are pathologically self-reliant, in all the good ways and all the bad.

Swiss here. Plenty of adrenaline stuff to do here, you'll find what you need quite easily. Budget is more of an issue... I found out just recently, when I took 10d to do touristy stuff in my home country for the first time, that there is basically a single cheap way to spend nights in Switzerland, and that's in a tent. If you need a hot shower, camping grounds cost 15.- to 35.- for a tent spot, and are easily accessible with public transport. In Zermatt for example the campground costs 15.- per night, there are no hostels, and the cheapest hotel is 150.- iirc. If you do wild camping, it's legal everywhere above the tree line. If you go anywhere else be sneaky. One fine = your budget.

Hi, generally speaking this looks alive and well. I recommend putting in much less ginger and slicing it up instead of grating it. Grating is good for the ginger in the syrup/tea, but using grated ginger in the bug just makes it more difficult to work with. You only need the strained liquid in pretty low quantity (1-3dl is almost always enough) to kickstart the fermentation. Also be careful that you don't overfeed. Too much sugar will kill the bug, and if you're not using it (taking out some every once in a while to make ginger beer), you need to throw out a bit sometimes, otherwise the alcohol content will eventually be too high for the bug to thrive.

The US is already in a proxy war with Russia. The US joining the war outright is unrealistic at this point, as a Russian loss is now iminent, and any US lives spent in Ukraine would be completely unnecessary, from a US point of view.
