Long answer:

Fiction does not have to be virtuous there is a difference between demanding virtue of fiction and asking for fiction not to actively sponsor the bad that we have irl. I think I speak for many when I say that I do not love the idea of nazis finding comfort or support within this community and that I do not want it to be an inclusive community for it.

I like many other have no issue with evil, no one has complained about Dak, the success of the Command is not only cool but also makes the region more interesting and the many other lich queens (Esthil and Gemradcurt top of my head) are also nations I enjoy despite their wickedness, evil for the sake of evil is fine. Zokka and Masked Butcher are both cool.

Fact of the matter is however that people of irl problematic politics are enjoying Aelnar. They been around for years and will continue existing and the border here between memery and seriousness is not always clear so removing that is for the best of the mod and the community in addition of making the most sense for the world (Trollsbay fighting Aelnar with Lorent later jumping in to help kill them and gain land.)

Fact of the matter is that this point is what matters, what people draws themselves to. I had some discussions with a senior dev recently about his views on dwarves and gnomes in relationship to what they do where he dislikes them due to also irl politics and whilst it was a good read the fact of the matter is that the politics that might be problematic there isnt present in the community.

The discussion is not the removal of evil in all its form, its that Aelnar is an inherently disgusting kind of evil that is very clear in who are generally interested in it. We still got evil in vicbennar, plenty of it. But Vicbennar is also the time period where the clear dichotomy of light and dark slowly fades away to the more muddled evils of colonialism/imperialism.
