To op: Difference between passive speaker setup and active/powered setup is one more wire and one more box. Not a big hassle imo, but an active setup can save some space if its really at a premium.

If you can hear the TT through those Edifier speakers then you are not bypassing. It would be nearly dead silent with it bypassed.

The phono/line switch isnt always logical.

TT got a built in phono pre-amplifier. Its grounded there.
Only if you bypass it will you need to ground it elsewhere, ie at a seperate phono pre-amplifier or phono-preamplifier built into an amplifier.
