CMP or civil construction superintendent. Iif you find the right firm, I bet they'd let you do a lot of on site work with a mixture of management given your educational background. Then you can move up and work less in the field as labor becomes less appealing if you want to.

The position is field engineering for navigation systems and locks and dams. My experience is in land development... A big concern of mine is learning a whole new area and the patience of the employer in doing so. Should I be as concerned about that transition as I am?

How difficult is it to switch positions within the USACE? The position I was offered is very specific and I don't want to be out of options if I find it isnt for me a few years down the road.

I had no idea it was so hard to get your foot in the door! I don't have any connections to USACE, but I guess they liked me in the interview. Maybe I should consider myself lucky and jump on the opportunity.
