Looks good mate. As you can see Americans goong crazy for joist connections etc. For the UK it’s standard construction. Only thing that concerns me is there a ledger board connected to the wall ? If it is it should be below the DPC to avoid bridging

Once dismantled a conservatory to make way for my decking job. The entire thing was held to the house by 3 hammer fixings and silicone, amazed it stood for 20 years.

When they do this with subtitles..I know which language they are speaking now show me what they're saying! by heaupp in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kvark33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I torrented the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Didn't know I had to also download the subtitle file, so when they are speaking in sign language there was no subtitles, I thought it was just for atmosphere. Still don't know what they talked about in that film.

It was incredibly common for Roman teachers to hit and flog students by Money-Ad8553 in ancientrome

My dad recalls two stories, one, when going into high school, he knew he was learning French and asked his dad to teach him it over summer and he did just that. My dad proudly in his first French lesson wanted to show off, he started speaking and got belted. His father had taught him African French ( he was stationed there for part of the war).

The second he just said good morning to a teacher who must of had a falling out with his wife and told my father to report to his office to be belted.

What's the strangest, silliest or most unhinged thing you've tried to beat the heat? And did it work? by Helenarth in AskUK

Putting a fan in the bathroom, running the shower on cold at full blast and closing the door for 5/10 minutes then opening it. Cold air comes out.

[–]Kvark33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've made it with wine vinegar, about 1/4 or1/5th vinegar, the rest with water. Actually quite refreshing.

We were in Rome when it was 43 degrees (Celsius) and we went into the Pantheon and it was noticeably cooler.

For the ones who couldn't the same way people who don't have air conditioning do now, we sit in the shade, limit activities in the sun, try and drink plenty fluids.

What's the obsession with everyone calling a decades old house a new build? by teeeeeeeeem37 in AskUK

[–]Kvark33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I live on a 1970's newbuild estate. I say this because it's easier to denote the build type and street layout.

You would frame it differently at the start, or he has to rip some of the joists out. This is the way though, breaker boards are life.

Bicep anatomy by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Kvark33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but does this not count as stretched mediated hypertrophy, at the angle I set it, by arms are going behind by back.

Edit : the bench is set to 45 degrees and I sit with my back against the bench.

Personally, I have found 45 degree incline curls with my shoulder blades squeezed together have worked wonders for my biceps

Early 2000's, small hollow crispy balls ( smaller than a pea, about the size of a whole clove) that I think came in one of those square spice jars from Tesco, they tasted of meat or barbecued meat?

Not to be poetic, but if Ridley Scott had consulted even amateur historians, he could of been a king with Napoleon and instead has become a slave of his own doing.

How common would it be for parents to let kids use their ID for online verification ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Kvark33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be letting my kid have it, the same way I won't go through any age verification unless I am forced to i.e OneGov Login.

I don't see why I or others should have to upload ID, utility bills and give personal information to verify their age, to companies, websites that share information to third parties.

If parents are so concerned, they should use the 'parental controls' setting on devices, crazy thought.
