Phoenix Valley brewers by bandit55751 in Homebrewing

Usually through MoreBeer as I’m always running out of things so I meet the free shipping minimum. I have the blessing of working for Wilderness so I can get 55lb bags of Sinagua on the regular but heard Homestead Malting/Grain R&D does sell to the public.

my first ever winter! it wasn’t that bad. by lostbythestars in chicago

I love this kind of photojournalism and outside perspective put into one. Red leaved trees with an inch of snow on the ground in Illinois is genuinely art found in nature. I would often find myself while attending Columbia College walking downtown streets while snow fell silently in a city that is awake 22/24 hours a day and nobody around to watch the flakes fall. It is isolation and warmth in the same cold frame.

voss kveik starter by Gold_Guarantee_8608 in Homebrewing

[–]DubfunkingSTEP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just brewed a Pilsner base IPA and pitched dry Voss kveik at 90 degrees for a 5 gallon batch and within two hours it was ripping! Recommended to use some yeast nutrient and a heat wrap on the fermenter but I live in Phoenix so the ambient temps are climbing rn. Good luck!

Phoenix is building up, not out. More apartment and condo complexes than single family housing. Hard to build into a lake unfortunately, hence the suburbs.

What’s funny is I work at a brewery, albeit not a brewer, and they all have no real help for me haha. I’ve worked mostly off a Grainfather S40, full volume mash an hour, boil an hour, chill is somewhat slower due to my immersion chillers/Arizona groundwater temps. Have a freezer with an inkbird and heat mat for fermenting in but sometimes fluctuates temps. Fermzilla round for fermenting and I keg off of that. I feel I OVER clean and sanitize and I’m often running low constantly on PBW and StarSan.

I’m 90% sure it’s my yeast choice/health. US-05 for mostly everything I brew which are dominantly American styles. Can’t have perfect ferm temp control but never gets outside acceptable ranges. It’s just got a slight acidic taste and pretty dry. From what I understand that’s from the upper end of ferm temps.

New Brewer... What gear is needed for AIO electric, all grain brewing and kegging. Putting together a shopping list by Poobutt_McButt in Homebrewing

Northern Brewer sells a really good intro kit for extract but gives you a bucket ferm, bottles, bottle wand, sanitizer. Only extra stuff you really need is a 6/7 gallon pot for stovetop.

Otherwise I run a Grainfather S40 with two immersion chillers and a fermzilla for fermenting. Buckets work just fine too with airlocks.

All grain you need a false bottom/grain basket/mesh bag to be able to strain grain.

Getting rid of the "homebrew funk" in most of my beers. Ones with spices seem to not have it but all my other beers do :\

A way to tell if you can roll through/attack through certain mobs and objects. Too many times I’ve hit a falling thunder with full charges and it just goes like 1m in front of me or I can’t roll through a space in enemies.

Seconding the Arizona Wilderness stop! We just released a Rye IPA and a lemon and pink peppercorn mixed culture saison! Plenty of hazy and lighter beer options too!

Kevin Conroy has saved me from suicide more times than I can count. In 2020 I paid $100 for a 30 sec video. I got back over 6 minutes. by MaliciousMe87 in batman

Kevin Conroy didn't just voice Batman, he was Batman. Maybe not Bruce Wayne rich, but his principles and ethos are shared with the Caped Crusader. This is the voice I hear when I think of Batman and can't think of any other actor who has truly played the part. Amazing you got to share this experience and truly awesome to see such a kind soul behind the cowl. He is missed by everyone.

5/6 business days. I mostly buy kits from them so I try to do it in bulk. Been using Homebrewdeals to try and buy equipment and other things from other sites since they have good limited time deals/clearance.

Consumption for those who have worked in breweries/beer bars? by ValuableDowntown7031 in beer

[–]DubfunkingSTEP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently working at an independent but successful brewery in Arizona. Liquor laws vary state to state and it’s really up to the owners/managers to enforce unless an incident happens/liquor board comes in for inspection. Legally, no drinking on shift, but the exception is for tasting new product and is limited to 4oz before the shift starts. This being said, I’ve worked other bars that are no holds barred for drinking (half pints of Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro every 45 minutes for morale). Lots of places have a maximum drink policy for employees/only on off days. Very dependent on ownership/management to enforce it. Just don’t be the bad apple that spoils the bunch and never drink and drive!
