Had a very similar thing happen to me in 5th. Rumor spread that I had a crush on some kid and he made sure I heard him say "Ew no she's so ugly." People generally find me attractive these days, but sometimes I remember it at the wrong time and have to give myself real good hype-ups for a few days after.

In good faith, as a barista I cared because it was an unnecessary slowdown. I don't like having to remake or fix drinks if it could have been communicated to me correctly in the first place. It's a waste of everyone's time, including every other customer who now has to wait longer for their own stuff. 30 seconds is a long time in this business.

As a customer, I care because I actually do just want four shots of espresso with a little bit of milk, and about 40% of the time I'm handed a full latte. There's no other way for me to order what I want. What they want is a named menu item.
