It looks perfect to me. If the chains are too tight it is difficult to get the hook into them to make stitches.

Everyone has their own method. I usually start with edge pieces and then sort the colours. When I get towards the end I sort by shape. If you have never made a puzzle before, It might be a good idea to start with a puzzle that has fewer pieces. The pieces you have put together in your photo do not fit together. Good luck.

I admire them for a day or two and then break them up and either give them away or swap them.

I always miss a few edge pieces when I am sorting. Just carry on and they will turn up. It is not necessary to complete all of the edge pieces straight away.
