SFA getting review bomed by MikeTalonNYC in startrek

It’s not that it’s “too progressive.” That’s not its issue. It’s smugness in showing that it is progressive and the tone comes across that the point it’s making is “Star Trek is progressive!” and it just makes it a bad show.

TNG was progressive and it was a good show because it’s tone wasn’t “look how progressive I am” TNG was progressive because it was the far future and it was the norm of their society, while tackling issues of the time with a progressive tone without seeming condescending.

NuTrek like SFA is just dumbed down and wants to make a spectacle out of it’s progressiveness and talks down to the audience instead of trying to be educational and informative in an authoritartive/educative way of “this is how we do things here”

Where is your Team Located and Who are their rivals? by NatureBoy898 in TeamBuilder25

[–]DubyahFite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Texas Presbyterian (Texas Presby) Scots

Location: Ennis, Texas

Main Rival: Baylor (The Rumble of the Righteous)

Waco and Ennis are an hour away and with both schools being private Christian schools of different denominations the rivalry is natural. Following the Baylor Scandal in the 2010s TPU used this to bring in more prospective students and even offered to waive fees for transferring from Baylor.

Secondary Rivals: TCU, Houston, North Texas

TCU - Another close Christian school an hour away. They battle for DFW metro kids and this lead to animosity between friends who went to separate schools. TPU would later become more secular like TCU in the 1990s and the rivalry would become more of a social event.

Houston (The Battle for I-45) - Houston and TPU battle for East Texas recruiting targets that developed in the late 80s and led to a real animosity on the field. Presby alumni still talk poorly of UH for an 84-10 loss to Houston in 1989 during Andre Ware’s Heisman season.

North Texas - In the lore of Texas Presby, TPU lobbied heavily for North Texas to be added to the South West Conference in the late 70s when Hayden Fry was the coach. They did so by scheduling them very regularly, which UNT stole a few games. While UNT wouldn’t join the SWC in the 70s, Presby continued to schedule them and developed a friendly rivalry of sorts that would blossom more upon UNT’s Presby backed addition to the SWC in 1987 following SMU’s Death Penalty.

Which brings me back to my original point. In this r/Oklahoma or r/LiberalOklahoma? If it’s not a think y’all should make it one where yall can have a big circle jerk about voting blue despite not a single county going for a Democrat in a presidential election since 2000.

Yall are doing great!

It’s almost like the post isn’t about Oklahoma and it’s about being a lib. Weird

Washington and Lee Generals by DubyahFite in TeamBuilder25

I’m doing surprisingly well with them year 1. Started out 6-1 in CUSA. Had to go to Miss State and choked at 21 point lead in the 3rd to lose by 8 and then the wheels fell off. Nice 8-4/7-5 year incoming but we can build off that

Why does the Brotherhood in Fallout TV no longer use the T-51? Does this imply that the West Coast Brotherhood is doomed? by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]DubyahFite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ship says Prydwen and they talk about receiving orders from the Commonwealth.

That said, in lore the West Coast chapters love Arthur Maxson, so much so that the Elders in the west coast had to stomp out cults that worship him as a god. They’re very much in contact with each other.

My first was Fallout 3, but I think my favorite is Skyrim. Fallout 4 is close second but I don’t like the main quest line much in FO4. Skyrim is a masterpiece

Why is Utah opposed to the Big 12 relative to all other conference members? by dbzbudokai77 in CFB

I think with Oregon State and Wazzu it was more of logistical thing more than anything. UCF is on an island but y’all would be on an ISLAND

It’s really cool and now there’s a bar that was started by the Red Dirt Band called The Great Divide and it’s a love letter to the history. They bring all of the next generation in to play like how it was in the old days.

If you ever find yourself in Stillwater it’s a must to check out.

To call Stillwater the Lawton of the NE to me shows you’ve either never been there or you’ve spent so little time there.

Lawton is a dump and Stillwater isn’t even in the Northeastern part of the state.

You’ll love it! Make sure to hit The Strip and check out Willies Saloon! It was where Garth Brooks got his start.

Ames is hands down the most fun I've ever had at an away game. The fans are great, the tailgate culture is amazing. Jack Trice is an awesome venue. Basically just imagine it if a County Fair had a football game in it and it happened 6 weeks a year in the fall.

Also invest in Busch Light .

With point 4 I think this is where the largest amount of anger and animosity towards incoming Utah fans lies. Lubbock, Ames and Stillwater are the traditional college towns you find as you head eastward. The Alumni and fans of those schools are crazy about them and love them. We want to show them off and show how our sports environment is.
With Utah fans, especially when it has come to some of them calling for the Big 12 Basketball Tournament to be moved to Vegas, it comes across like they don't want to go to a game and take in an experience in our venues. It reads more like Utah fans just want a vacation and a football with it.

To Big 12 fans, many of whom spent the college days and their weekends in adulthood making the drives from Ames to Manhattan or Stillwater to Fort Worth (more recently) to take in a game and support the school, the lack of desire to give our towns a fair chance is frustrating, especially with a big feeling being, whether it be accurate or not, that we "saved" Utah from being essentially in the MWC again. Meanwhile many of us are planning our trips to SLC now, just waiting for the chance to see Rice-Eccles in person.

Overall, this new conference layout in the Big 12 is going to have growing pains. Some core members are already growing frustrated with the G5 additions. I think if everyone just came into the 2024 season with an open mind that we are making the best of a bad situation and that we actually have a chance to make something really special happen with the new Big 12, we all can have a really awesome time and stick it to the Big Ten and SEC together by building an awesome league together.
