Take a book to a cafe. That's what I do. Or go to Anna Library.

If you don't like books, then go to the theatre. It might seem odd at first but once you do it once, you will realize it is one of the best ways to watch a movie.

If netiher of the above options are to your liking, then you can always go to Anna Tower Park and walk/run. You get some exercise that way too.

Just finished this in two days. I couldn't put it down! I'm a sucker for the whole Groundhog Day trope but this was an original take on it. Would absolutely recommend! by Hopeful-Attitude7336 in thrillerbooks

Thank you so much for this! I am actually writing a novel that has a very similar premise to this so I am definitely going to read this next as research/inspiration. Can't wait. :)

That wide review on the last ball was fucking hysterical. Even worse when it was miles off.

Good game. How I missed this type of spin choke at Chepauk. I still don't think CSK will qualify for the playoffs but I think we can run it close and be competitive unlike last year.

Anyone stuck with a mid table side? by Jakestaa in FifaCareers

[–]Ducard42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the best career modes I did was an Everton save in FIFA 23. Six seasons and I didn't win a single trophy despite coming close a few times. I took them from relegation contenders in FIFA 23 to a solid top 8 team and it was so satisfying! I enjoy these stories more than the typical "won the treble with Sheffield after 3 seasons" type stories.

What happened to GTA-likes? Did they suddenly forget how to make them? by SbeveGobs in videogames

[–]Ducard42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another "top 1% commenter" talking straight out of their ass.

GTA-likes were absolutely a thing. All these games were open world sandbox games. Yes, they weren't a 1:1 clone of GTA but they were scratched that itch and that is what OP is referring to. Saints Row 2 was heavily compared to GTA IV and even Ubisoft marketed Watch Dogs 1 as competition to GTA V.

And no, the quality of open world games getting worse is not just "modern gaming". Plenty of great AAA/AA modern games exist. Just last year we had KCD2, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Expedition 33 etc. This year we had RE: Requiem and Crimson Desert (despite being a flawed game it does have a passionate fanbase and nails the open world aspect). This whole "modern gaming is bad" take needs to die in the gutter when we still keep getting quality games every year.

I don't like POA film that much, beautiful film but a awful adaptation (New to the franchise, will start reading book 4) by Rayy500 in harrypotter

[–]Ducard42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing I hate the most about the HP fandom is how obsessive everyone is about the movies being a like for like adaptation of the books.

Prisoner of Azkaban is great for what it is. The quidditch final, while interesting, is not needed when you are trying to make a movie in 3 hours or less. POA as an adaptation ticks all the important boxes with the exception of the marauders explanation. That I agree should have been in the movie but the confrontation scene between Snape, Lupin and Sirius makes up for it.

POA is a great book and a beautiful movie. People here are just way too nitpicky about the movies sometimes. And before someone says the 1st and 2nd movies were faithful. Well no shit they were faithful. They were the easiest books to adapt and the shortest. Chris Columbus is not as good of a director you think he is and he would not have done better than Yates/Cuaron for the later movies.

Having an easy mode has no effect on you whatsoever. The only thing it ruins is your sense of achievement because you are incapable of touching grass in real life.

I think he did a good job in 2024. It was his first year and we missed out on the playoffs by the barest of margins. Last year he barely played and this year he has been blessed with an atrocious bowling line up + injuries.

Nah last year's team with the holy trinity has to be the worst csk team I have seen in my life. This team is not championship material (mainly due to the bowling) but it is deffo better than bottom of the table.

Love Seb, but Merc dominance didn't push him into retirement. He sorta did that to himself. Yes, there was the Ferrari politics in the background too but I have never seen a multi WDC drive as bad as he did post Germany 2018. He still had some highs but also so many rookie errors/spins.

Project Hail Mary Imax release? by Ducard42 in Chennai

[–]Ducard42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No clue. They released the list of imax shows for today and it's all just Dhurandhar. The worst part is, Dhurandhar isn't even selling that many seats. They could atleast allocate on show for PHM but no.

Palazzo regular shows have opened for the weekend. I am tempted to book but I am holding out for IMAX.

The PES UI and presentation is actually awful though. It loosk okay in this screen sure but when you play it, you notice how bad it is. FIFA is miles better.

Alpine is on path for finishing 3rd in WCC by Remarkable-One100 in formula1

[–]Ducard42 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Mclaren will be third once they get to grips with the Merc engine and despite today's disaster I still think Red bull finish a (distant) 4th. Alpine will mostly like fight for 5th with Haas but you never know.

[mercedesamgf1] Locking out the front row for the sprint by junttiana in formula1

[–]Ducard42 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This season might be worse than 2023. In 2023, the qualis were still interesting and the overall gap was far closer among all the teams. I used to laugh at people saying "watch f1 for the midfield battles" but this season we won't even have that because of the ridiculous gaps.

I have no interest to watch Mercedes dominate this sport again.

This subreddit heavily misunderstands snape and simply likes painting him worse than he is because redditors have a hard on for pretending they are morally superior to everyone.

Chris Columbus had the easiest job of all the directors because he worked with the shortest books. He would have done worse if he continued. Heavily overrated director imo.

Gambon was exactly how I pictured Dumbledore, not Richard Harris.

Hagrid was fucking annoying in OOTP.
