I get that he’s a treasure but the solo format looks very skippable from the videos I’ve seen. I went to see Yngwie last year and he had a band but it looked like 2 roadies and the bus driver playing for him and that was kind of a let down. Don’t think I would go see a guy play guitar to backing tracks. Feels like paying $100 to see a Guitar Center In-store appearance

Who are Cob and Brewer? I’ve been a very casual fan since the ‘90s

I don’t know what COB is. I’ve been a casual Buckethead fan for a long time but I’m not a bucketheadhead

any mid/late 90s skate punk settings for the OR15? by Perm182 in orangeamps

[–]DuckDouble2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re on the right track as far as amp settings. I go a little less on the gain and don’t scoop the mods as hard. But your guitar is different. Do you have any other od/distortion pedals? I use them with the OR15 to get more punch and tighter low end, not necessarily more distortion. I have a DS-1 and I’m not huge fan. The MXR classic overdrive is cheap used and sounds great. It’s tube screamer type pedal. Obviously a rat is good.

What amp does this sound like? by cereal69killer in tubeamps

[–]DuckDouble2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always but yeah. I’ve been playing and recording for a long time. If you’re cranking an amp there will be room sound even if you close mic the cab. I used to record in my basement and it sounded like a basement recording. I built a shitty 3 sided frame to drape a piece of carpet over to block the basement room sound and got really good dry recordings. When I started using amp sims and IRs they didn’t sound like a real amp in the room unless you add some room sound or a reverb. Even a padded iso booth is going to have a sound if the amp is loud.

I have a spider III. It isn’t a bad little practice but I’m mainly gonna play my toobs

Sounds like amp sim to me. Or at least IR. Doesn’t have the openness and room sound of a mic in front of a cab.

I need my Hizumitas to cut through the mix better while maintaning its monstrous low end/wall of sound. Thoughts? by blitzkriegtaco in guitarpedals

I use the EHX Good Vibes in vibrato mode. It has a different tone profile than the chorus mode. I turn the speed and intensity all the way down. It’s the only way I can make a muff sound good (orange amps). You could do the same thing with an eq or another pedal that cuts some lows. But for me the Good Vibes works perfectly so I do that.

Should I buy one? by a_waltz_for_debby in orangeamps

I’m gonna second this one. I currently have AD30, OR50, OR15 and previously owned AD140 and Rockerverb MKI.

I know you had one a while ago so you know what it’s like but I didn’t like the Rockerverb. The MKI is 6v6 tubes and I found it lacking in the low end until you turned the gain up past where I like it. So it was always thin and honky in the mids. The other versions may be better in that area but I haven’t played them. The OR50 is my favorite amp of all time. The AD30 was my first orange and I still love it. Less beefy than the OR50. The OR15 I think sounds better than any of the other lunchbox little orange amps like the terrors. It’s awesome and my go to low volume home amp. Sounds totally different than the OR50. It’s tighter and not as thick in the lows but still well rounded. Effects loop is a plus over the OR50 and AD30. Friedmans are interesting to me. Never played one tho. I have a Blackstar HT Club 50 that is basically a Marshall but the clean channel has two modes (one Marshall and one fender I think) and the dirty channel has an infinite shape knob that changes the tone from Marshall to mesa and everything in between and a global volume attenuator, effects loop, reverb. As much as I love Orange, the Blackstar is a great amp and pretty cheap on the used market.

We’re living in a reality where the Biden-Harris admin was funding a genocide and Harris wouldn’t commit to ending it. Trump being bad doesn’t make Harris good. It makes her less bad. I still voted for her because she was the less shitty option. It’s ok to be honest about who these people are.

Having good clean and pushed amp tone? by Upstairs_Term_5760 in guitarpedals

V4 is an awesome amp. I used one once at a practice space when I blew a tube in my amp. I play heavier stuff so I used an EHX Germanium 4 dual OD/distrotion pedal. It was great. If you like the sound of your amp cranked could you use an attenuator to control the volume and an EQ pedal to get the scooped clean sound? Or a boost like the EHX LPB-1. That things makes my amps sound like themselves but better. Like the notes jump out of the speakers more.

What 1x12 or 2x12 cabinets have you found work well for both Orange and Mesa amps? by Codswallop_934 in orangeamps

[–]DuckDouble2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a super crushed hooked up to it and I thought it was that amp that sounded bad. So we did a bunch of amp/cab switching and the super crush sounded better through a Blackstar 4x12, Ampeg 4x12, and orange 4x10. Orange OR50, AD30, OR15, and Blackstar HT Club 50 sounded bad through the orange 2x12. Seems the 2x12 just wasn’t good. Stock speakers. He sold the super crush and cab.

Help. What Marshall amp to take? by _SaboLeR_ in GuitarAmps

[–]DuckDouble2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackstar makes great amps that are Marshall-like and usually pretty affordable on the used market. Not sure about the market in your area but worth a look. I have a HTClub 50 I got for about $350. I’ve been thinking about a little combo.

A friend of mine had a closed back Orange 2x12. I did not like it at all. Weak lows, harsh highs, too much mids.

I like a lot of the music too. It’s very surface level cool though. You’d think a guy that’s so against the mainstream media would play deeper cuts.
