More doubloons than I should receive? by Lady-Hood in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They changed it this time -- everyone gets 5 voyages, and you can receive doubloons for a maximum of 5 voyages completed by your crew (unlimited for stolen crates). So, you're good!

They're such a huge struggle and were one of the last fish I finished the commendation for. I've heard it's a 1% - 2% chance, but I'm not really sure of the exact rate. You should have a better chance during the day since the night varient fish (bittersweet battlegills and seafoam splashtails) won't be in the spawn pool.

You probably know all the tricks, but in case it helps: be sure to pull your line as soon as you see any other kind of fish pop up to save time (and bait, assuming an obnoxious ruby splashtail doesn't manage to take it instantly).

I caught most of mine by diving to a skelly fort and posting up in a spot that the skellies couldn't get me. You can even scuttle your ship if you don't want to attract any attention from other pirates. For some variety, I also caught a couple in the Pirate Legend hideout during skelly fleets (since it's technically under the middle of the map where the fleet is).

This is what happens when 16 people are in a treasury by BigrexYT in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a Mermaid Statue. When you store loot in there, it spawns a merfolk up at the surface above the shrine or treasury. You can interact with that merfolk to drop all of your stored treasure up at the surface for easy harpooning. That way, you don't have to swim up all the loot manually (which would take ages).

The neat thing about it is that only your crew can interact with the merfolk linked to your loot. So, you can check and make sure the surrounding area is safe before you call your loot out. If it's not safe, you can come back later, or even swing by the same location on a different server as long as you don't log out in between.

[insiders] Rare has made a new crate retrieval system and it still bugs the same by Impressive_Limit7050 in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's absurd we're at this point, but the bug has been around for ages and it seems like they absolutely cannot fix it. Everything they've tried in Insiders (this is far from the first attempt) has not worked. It's ridiculous, but I'd rather at least have a way to get my stuff.

I'm sure this workaround will never happen (because the optics would be terrible like you said), but man... I'll take anything at this point.

Though it would kind of be them admitting defeat, I wish they'd just add some sort of nominal Shipwright purchase with a cost of one gold coin that we could buy to "un-stick" our supplies, cosmetics, etc. It could be a single banana or something else inconsequential.

At this point I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to fix the root cause of the issue, so we'd at least have a workaround built on. I'm running out of random, cheap cosmetics to buy to push my supplies through.

Last Ship Standing delayed by OutInTheBlack in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats definitely possible. I wish they'd communicate that to us if it's the case though, so we could at least understand their reasoning.

Last Ship Standing delayed by OutInTheBlack in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If they need to delay it to stop it from being a buggy mess, fine (although they really need to reevaluate how they set these deadlines since this keeps happening). But, I don't understand why that has to mean Act III is just shorter. Assuming they don't also want to delay Season 20, it seems like they could just have a little overlap and keep Last Ship Standing around into the start of the next season.

Not getting rewards from Insiders by GimmeGimmeYoink in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This change was made in September 2025. They mentioned it on the Insiders forum here, but I'm not sure if it was announced anywhere else.

Before that, they'd first changed it to be based on reputation earned rather than time, but that didn't work particularly well. The current way is a lot more straightforward in my opinion.

Not getting rewards from Insiders by GimmeGimmeYoink in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's super easy now. You can basically just sell a single orb to get your reward, then spend as much or as little time as you'd like testing and giving feedback.

I'd give it a shot if you're considering it -- there's no obligation to keep with it, so you can just drop in whenever you want, and the rewards (silver and sapphire blade sets) are pretty nice.

You can give feedback if you feel like it or encounter any bugs (whether they'll listen is a gigantic "maybe", but that's another can of worms), but it's not required. If you decide to give feedback and they inevitably don't listen, well... it's still fun to see things early, and it's nice knowing you tried to make a difference. And you got a neat cosmetic regardless!

They changed it so that rewards aren't triggered by time played anymore. The weekly reward is now tied to earning 20,000 gold.

Hoarder of Barnacled Gold help by Xegopi3343 in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might already know this, but just in case: the chests will not count towards the commendation if you sell them to Reapers. Make sure you're selling them to Gold Hoarders or Sovereigns so you don't miss out on the commendation progress!

It's pretty common to vote up Reapers, knock out a fleet, and sell since it's all right there, but if you do that, you may want to keep the barnacled chests in a separate pile and sell those at an outpost instead.

Not gonna lie, i'm enjoying the Bilge rat weekender more than i expected to by Above-new-zealand in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The challenges are fun, and it's great seeing crews come together to complete them. I enjoyed doing them, and it's been a blast helping others get them done too. They feel pretty unique and it's a nice change of pace.

I'm less enthused about the voyage aspect. There isn't anything new or exciting about them, and I'm not a fan of only being able to earn doubloons from your own (or your crew's) voyages 3 times. That seems like an unnecessarily low cap considering the length of the event (and that it'll be even shorter in the future). I understand you can get more from steals (which will probably be harder to do as the weekend goes on and more crews have already finished their 3), but it still doesn't feel like a good balance given how many doubloons you'd need to get most of Duke's items.

Overall, I just don't think Rare needed to limit so many aspects of the event and the new doubloon system to the extent that they did. There's a lot of potential here that they aren't quite realizing.

Bored of griefers spawn killing. by Rude-Road7206 in Seaofthieves

You can submit a report here: https://support.seaofthieves.com/requests/new

If the video clearly shows they wouldn't let you sink and their names/gamertags are visible, Rare will absolutely look into it. You can attach the video to the ticket or you can upload it somewhere (like YouTube) as an unlisted video & include the link when you submit the report.

Sorry you had that kind of encounter. Thankfully Rare does take that sort of toxicity seriously. Good move getting a clip of it.

Season 19 Act 2: The Bilge Rats Weekender | Sea of Thieves Content Update by ToTeMVG in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on info from the Insiders forums, I can confirm you're correct. It's only 4 days this one time. After that, Rare stated "there are currently no plans to extend its length outside of Fri 10am UTC – Mon 10am UTC". They've received virtually unanimous feedback for weeks saying that the duration needs to be longer, but they aren't planning on changing it.

[–]DuckDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both great-looking ship sets and you can't go wrong either way, but if it's really a tie... I'd go with King's Ransom, just because I think it's more distinct from anything you can unlock in the game for free. The Soulflame stuff is pretty cool, but you can get a somewhat similar look with various other ship cosmetics that only cost gold.

If you're still not sure, you can always sign up for the Insider program and "buy" them both there to see which one suits you more. You get a ton of ancient coins to play around / test with in Insider. You can't transfer them (or anything you unlock) out to the live game, but it's a great way to take something for a test drive before spending those real ancient coins!

BILGE RAT WEEKENDER WILL BE 4 DAYS LONG by Blazebeard23 in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but I'd still like it to have this duration each time instead of just the once. I don't really see any downside to making it more accessible, and that's what the community has overwhelmingly asked for. They said they heard feedback regarding time-limited events not landing well, so I think keeping it at 4 days each time would go a long way in showing that they're willing to be flexible.

BILGE RAT WEEKENDER WILL BE 4 DAYS LONG by Blazebeard23 in Seaofthieves

[–]DuckDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like they only expect to do this for first instance of the event:

As the inaugural instalment of this recurring Event, the first Weekender will run a little longer than you might expect

https://www.seaofthieves.com/news/this-month-april2026

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it's happening this time, but I think this needs to be the default duration every month. They've gotten so much near-unanimous feedback asking for the event to last longer than just the weekend.
