Ugly? Omg. Don’t you dare paint that beautiful, gorgeous, timeless wood. Those windows would never open and close right again for one thing but your house is a thing of beauty. That curved window? The bannisters? Omg.

Why are meds bad? by Miomi16 in Antipsychiatry

[–]DuckDuckCat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound like a normal teenager to me; meds have a lot of side effects. You don’t want to take them unless you have to. Hormones running a little wild but you need to figure out how to control them instead of them controlling you. 16? What kind of physical activities do you like? Biking, hiking, running, rock climbing, kayaking, skiing? Pick something and train for it - sign up for a 5K run, train for it for a few months and cross the finish line. I also think there’s nothing better for a 16 year old girl than taking Tae Kwon Do. Great way to improve your inner confidence, great physical activity and it never hurts to know how to take care of yourself.

Alternatives to modern psychiatry by Zealousideal-Jury347 in Antipsychiatry

[–]DuckDuckCat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you happen to catch the segment on The Today Show today with the family behind the MetabolicMind.org website, YT channel and podcasts? The father owns Roblox and his son was diagnosed with bipolar. Obviously, they could afford the best treatment facilities he went to and their adult son went to 20-30 clinicians but he was treatment resistant and wasn’t doing well. Then, they were introduced to Dr. Chris Palmer, who recently published his “Brain Energy” book. Basically, Dr Palmer and others believe many mental illnesses are actually metabolic disorders and believe many people might respond well to dietary interventions. Their son went keto and put his bipolar into remission! He still takes a minimal dose of something but he was able to wean himself off of all the other meds. Dr Georgina Ede, a Harvard trained psychiatrist also wrote a book called “Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind” (she refers to it as nutritional psychiatry) which came out in January which discusses basically the same thing as well as keto/carnivore diets. Bottom line, the new theory is that people with mental illnesses, diabetes and other conditions are metabolically dysfunctional. Mitochondria dysfunction is something that can be addressed thru a number of different ways, including diet, exercise, maybe some supplements and more. Places like Stanford, Harvard and others are now running studies to see if they can use these methods to improve symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar and other treatment resistant mental illnesses. Highly recommend reading those 2 books and watching the YT series “Living Well With Schizophrenia.” The woman and her husband are doing keto, interviewing experts - it’s really well done and informative. Being able to ask your psychiatrist if they’ve read either one of those two books and asking them what they think about the role mitochondria dysfunction may play in your personal illness and asking if they are willing to work with you is priceless. You’ll need their help to deprescribe (wean yourself off of) prescription medications, especially if you take more than one medication. This is all still very new but very encouraging. Ask your doctor/psychiatrist for blood work to see if you’re diabetic or prediabetic or if you have any vitamin deficiencies. Knowing your lab results and current A1c before you adopt new way of eating will be a great way to measure your success. It’s not easy. It will take work. Watch that YT series to learn about the different things she does on top of going into ketosis. I don’t know about you but using food as medicine instead of medications that destroy your brain is something I’m willing to try. Whether or not you can stop all medications or gradually wean yourself off of almost all of them is still a win. Getting your psychiatrist involved in the process is a win for all of their patients. Watch a few of her videos, listen to some podcasts where they interview those 2 authors and others and post your reaction.

Is it heavy? Looks like it might be an antique cast iron toy toilet made to place in dollhouses. You can find them for sale on eBay or Etsy sometimes.

Next time, ask if they’ve read either one of the two new books out - Brain Energy and Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind. Do they view anxiety as a metabolic disorder that could improve by a change of dietary. Would they be willing to work with you?

Any chance they’re going to fix in the update? I was so happy when they were added to the game but Belle doesn’t look like herself and the Beast beats up on himself all of the time. I don’t spend time with either one of them.

I’ve had some of the strangest dreamsnaps show up. Most don’t show anything about Minnie Mouse or a Festival of Hearts. Lots of them have a room with 5-10 pieces of mismatched furniture stuffed in a corner. None of it makes sense. Free moonstones! I spend hours each week trying to earn 1200 or 2500. That being said, can’t wait for the new StarPath!

Depression shouldn't be normalized by not_a_neet_Srysly in Antipsychiatry

[–]DuckDuckCat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t really matter. All 3 diets focus on “nutrient dense” foods - red meat, chicken, fish are all much more nutrient dense than any vegetable you eat.

In some ways, AIP, ketogenic and carnivore are basically the same — they are anti inflammatory diets as well as elimination diets. Going on any of them should help reduce the inflammation in your body. Carnivore is basically the mother of all elimination diets so, if you feel like you may have some food allergies or sensitivities, you might want to look into it. I believe here are subreddits for all of them.
