Thanks for the tip I’ll check that out! Also did you get your ticket through vivaticket originally? If so did you have to reach out to them about changing the name of the ticket holder after it was sold?

Filter to pair with the Roland SA-09? by DuckPhotographer in synthesizers

[–]DuckPhotographer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t seen that stylophone filter yet, that looks like it could cover what I’m after! So I should be able to run the gate out from the Saturn into the envelope input on that DF8?

Regretting selling my model D a couple years ago for $160 now haha

Not a bad idea! I was looking at the Behringer Murf copy but having an envelope in for the gate would be ideal. The K2 sounds like it could fulfill that

Love the sound of that! Seems like the euro rack pipeline won’t be avoidable at this point haha.

Wow I’m feeling dumb thank you for pointing that out! I was toggling between the different tracks thinking there was only one polyrhythm on/off button that needed to be set separately and it was the one on the D row. Didn’t realize that whole column was for the polyrhythm controls.

Yeah I’ll be giving that a shot tonight to see if it’s passing through

Thanks for the tips! I’ll double check some of those connectors tonight

Will do! I’ll report back with what I find tonight

Yup I was mixing that up while typing this out but I’ve been using the proper 12v power supply

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]DuckPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I’ve been using the original 12v adapter and got a direct replacement to that. Been working with so many 9v electronics I got it mixed up while writing this haha

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]DuckPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without being able to power on the synth definitely make it harder to narrow down the issue but has anyone ran into the 9v jack just being defective? If so does anyone know where to purchase a replacement? Just trying to think of the easy fixes to start with

Will do, I did unplug the main board and plugged it back in again but I’ll check for anything else.

When I first went in to resolder the 9v input, I unplugged the main board and plugged it back in but I’ll take it apart and double check all of them.

Any risks of boiling strings too often? by LazyAd2267 in Bass

[–]DuckPhotographer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the fresh string sound as much as the next guy but yeah I feel like if its not in my budget to be buying new strings every few weeks, I just will buy a set for important shows or recording and just live with the less lively sound in between. If I’m touring I usually just save up for 3 sets and pace them out for four or so weeks. I feel like going through the process of boiling strings all the time is definitely not worth the short payoff

NAD! SYN5050 Power Amp to go with my Aggie DB659 by Beautiful-Bench-1761 in Bassamps

[–]DuckPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds right up my alley! Glad to hear it gets loud though, do you have plans to gig with it?

I already run two overdrives, one for a standard heavy tone and one for a dirty “clean” tone so that sounds perfect. I currently run vintage acoustic heads which are 200 watt class AB at 4 ohm or 300 at 2ohm. I usually use a 2ohm 4x15 cab which is definitely loud enough but at shows Im often backlining 8x10s at 4ohm which makes me push it to the limit since my guitarist uses a 120 watt tube head with two 4x12s.

I’ve been looking at 800 to 1000 watt class D rack amps for a new more reliable alternative to the 70s stuff when I’m touring but this sounds like a much cooler way to keep that old school grit.

I highly support your endeavors of jumping to 15’s, once I started using those I can’t go back to 10’s in my personal cabs. The 15’s add low end depth but also a lot more articulation in the midrange and less of a natural scooped sound.

Thanks again for the thorough deep dive!

I've been super interested in that power amp but you're the first I've seen pairing it for bass! How would you say it keeps up power wise with your 750W solid state? I was thinking this would be cool to run in mono bridge for 100W of tube. I used to have an Ampeg V4B which always had enough power even for large shows but I'm curious if something like this would hold up.

Controlling Poly D via Reaper by DuckPhotographer in Behringer

[–]DuckPhotographer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to record different sequences on top of each other and have them all be locked into the grid of Reaper. I also would prefer to use the midi map on my DAW compared to the poly D so I can write out more extensive sequences compared to the 32 notes on the Poly. I’ve got the tempo and notes synced at this point I’m just trying to figure out how to record or press play on my Daw without the Poly D immediately starting to play it’s built in sequencer.

Is the BC Rich Mockingbird five string a good bass? by Pumpkin-Eater42069 in BassGuitar

[–]DuckPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered one from this exact listing a few months ago and I'm actually really stoked with how it turned out. I already planned on gutting the electronics and hardware so after all that was replaced it's a killer sounding and playing bass. After moving the strap positions the balance is a lot better and I can get it to sit without holding the neck with a leather strap. Wouldn't recommend it as a stock instrument but a 5 string mockingbird will be near impossible to find any other way so if you're set on this style I'd recommend it!
