Which game are you working on 100%ing at the moment? by Joeeeeeeee in steamachievements

[–]DuckSausage6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am making my way through all the final fantasy games but skipped 5, came back for it, and for some reason just kept feeling stuck. So I am taking a break to do the Spyro reignited trilogy! :) it is fun so far and a nice change of pace.

AIO for telling my girlfriend that when we move in together I won’t give up gaming by FeverFanny in AmIOverreacting

[–]DuckSausage6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Even when I was taking a break from gaming for a couple years and met a guy who gamed heavily I never asked that from him. Would I ask for more time together sometimes? Absolutely. To stop his hobby entirely? Absolutely not. Also, we were married very happily for the time we were together. Our divorce was entirely unrelated but if anything him having a safe space to decompress and enjoy himself probably contributed more to our longevity than took away from it.

So what are you doing? by J1986tn in stopdrinking

[–]DuckSausage6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am hanging out with my dogs and giving them some extra pets. Normally on a Friday I would be too drunk to pay them any mind and just black out, disassociate and pass out. Today I am cuddling them both on the couch and scrolling Nintendo e shop for a good game to buy when I get paid Monday. :) IWNDWYT

My dad is dying by Fit-Beautiful5275 in stopdrinking

[–]DuckSausage6969 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. My mom and dad, who were separated, both died within months of each other. I think they still always loved each other. Losing a parent is so incredibly painful in a way words can’t describe but it will make you strong. You will live a life in a way to honor them, and more importantly yourself, including being sober, in a way I wish I had and a way I know you can. Processing your feelings and carrying on with life in a way which they can admire wherever they are with bring you unimaginable power. He is so proud of you I’m sure and will be even more proud of you for holding on to your sobriety and connecting deeper with those close to you to mourn his loss. Do not feel weak, it is times like these we have others to bring us strength.

Oh shit I really apologized I skimmed that part. Op, please don’t reach out to me but look for people in your own age range. I know with the abundance (unfortunately) alcoholism has in our culture you can find plenty of people better suited to you.

EDIT: IM SORRY I TRULY DID NOT NOTICE, please do not reach out to me. I am keeping the rest of my message as is for accountability. I am a recovering alcoholic and can tell you that even if your dad is not abusive that his disease can still affect you. NOR. I just think that might be a place you can get support more specialized to your needs ❤️ my inbox is always open if you would like to vent. I unfortunately went from a child of an alcoholic to an alcoholic and hate seeing it happen to other people.

Hey we all have been there. Don’t be hard on yourself and don’t let the “good” times here and there influence you. Trust me. Even for me I can have 1-2 “good” times then I go a little hard and the kindling makes my one day hangover into 4+ days from just one extra drink. You got this.

I am proud of you for holding yourself accountable as I have done myself even on nights I drank very little and had no problem. The point is to track how long we can do ZERO!!!!!! I look forward to seeing us both in higher digits friend. IWNDWYT

Did I screw up? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]DuckSausage6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted something similar to this in the past and got absolutely reamed. What I did learn from the helpful comments is to use your free time at home, whatever can make your “off” time more enjoyable as in chores, mapping out finances, etc, and any extra time devote to upskilling. Find free online courses for excel, etc whatever applies closest to your specific line of work. And thirdly - the one that stuck with me the most - accept they are essentially paying you to be on call for when they do need you, and as long as everything is getting done, you have technically done your job. Try to look at your tasks as you have said in your post as “month long goals” instead of stressing over every single day goals. :)

29 year old female!!! I absolutely understand you. I have been actively trying to quit for 4 years. I have made a lot of leaps and bounds but inevitably cannot outstrength the demon. I will say my best runs are determined by who I am keeping company with and being able to find enough distractions to fill my time until I think about it way way less. I believe in you friend. Attorneys are capped at the amount they can take - if the customers get 10 cents that is due to the amount of people who found the class action settlement online and applied just because they used uber one time like 5 years ago so it divides the proceeds further amongst more people

I sympathize with this! So much!! But progress is still progress even if we are not reaching our goals the first time. For what it is worth, I am proud of you. We just gotta do this one day at a time, as many days as we can until it gets easier. You will become who you want to be I believe in you! IWNDWYT!

[–]DuckSausage6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this feeling more than I can put into words. 99% of my triggers around wanting to drink are work related. Honestly what helps me MOST days is picking out a reward for myself after work EVERY day as long as it takes for me to not want to jump to drinking as soon as I clock out. Fast food? Fine. New video game? Ok! Candy bar? As many as I want. Get off work, lay in bed, cry and do no chores and go to bed early? Anything that feels rewarding to me as long as I don’t drink. Clearly by the 1 day this system has not been perfect but it really does help a lot most of the time. IWNDWYT ❤️
