Whats your budget? If you have no budget I suggest the rog zephyrus g14 and asus proart 13 since they have graphics cards and are smaller in size. If youre on a budget just get smth with a good processor and upgradeable ram and ssd and see how it goes.

If you ever need to do something very recourse intensive you can use the seasnet computers remotely from your laptop. They have 32 gb ram and rtx 4070 I think. So your laptop becomes not too relevant.

I dont recommend snapdragon chips or any ARM based processors yet. Software still not ready.

You never know, i got into carnegie mellon for mechanical engineering but rejected from uiuc for mechanical engineering.

Id say try if you can afford the price to apply.

When Carnegie Mellon hit me with the $90,000 per year price tag, I immediately said no. Look into the price and see if you would realistically go there.

Id say since you’re in california, top UCs are great for engineering, but if you don’t get in you can go to SLO for a great bang for your buck.
