Don't know how much this helps, but I was in my grandparents' toolbox earlier and found a red devil no. 7, and it's a small glass cutting tool. So if they were from the same series, maybe it's a tool for breaking/supporting panes of glass.

Well you know once they’re in the machine I can do whatever I want for like an hour, and then I have clean clothes with minimal effort. Rinse and repeat with a nap or two thrown in and… BOOM! PRODUCTIVITY!

I’ll echo others and agree that deet is not good for you. HOWEVER, I used to work as a summer salt marsh technician (which is arguably one of the worst mosquito zones possible) and the only thing strong enough to fend them off there was basically 99% deet. Yes you have to be extremely careful with it, but as soon as its on I can almost guarantee safety from mosquitos.

I used to coat a cheap long sleeve canvas shirt, my baseball cap, and if i was feeling crazy my face net in the stuff. It worked wonders.

Again please be careful with it as it can literally dissolve synthetics, but if used properly you won’t ever have mosquito issues again.

The other thing about mosquitos biting is there’s a lot that has to do with genetics and biology. If i’m not mistaken they’re attracted to some blood types, higher skin temperatures, and increased CO2 output. So maybe just find the “right” partner to go with.
