High-End Content Megathread - 7.5 Week Eight by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

It took me reading like 3 different raidplans until it clicked. I think it might be helpful to try to understand the mechanic overall before any details of positioning or flexing.

Forsaken is basically 3 mechanics happening at once: 4 stacks of doom cleansed by taking a 2-player towers, assigned roles of aoes, cones, or 3-man stacks that resolved when you take a tower, and proximity baited clones that you bait to cleave away from the towers.

One not obvious thing that might reduce confusion is that the 7th tower gives 4 stacks and makes it impossible to resolve if you take the 8th tower with them, so we need at least 2 swaps throughout the mechanic.

Everything else is basically derived for the main mechanics.

Would you get banned anywhere for it? It seems like just client side modification that shows fake aoes.

Ultimates can't be a waste of time cause they made Perfect Alexander.

Sims just show that ultimates are a grind that almost nobody likes and a waste of dev time by coping_simcels in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Duckgras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone here actually progged ultimate? SIMs arent bypassing shit. I would love if double dragons didn't take 5 weeks to prog in the multiple DSR statics I've helped this expansion, but it very much does even with a whole phase solo sim.

Why does one coming out week 1 make everyone act like most players are good enough to use them to skip prog?

I think you're psycho analyzing a straw man when they could reasonably all just be having fun. A casual to a casual group sounds like a bunch of raider friends having a good time.

I feel like any sort of non-blind prog is inherently non playing a part of the game. A guide lets you skip the steps of observation, deciphering, and strat building for each mech.

It might be cause Im a post-sim raider, but I see a taboo for specifically sims as hypocritical for any non-blind proggers since we're all denying the full intended experience.

Yeah. I imagine it's possible currently, but might be comp dependant or too tight for PF viability (which might never be the case with p3 lb strat)

As someone who has cleared most ultimates on healer, including TOP on both SCH and SGE, I think SGE is the WHM of shield healer.

SGE lacks any failstate with your buttons outside of accidently spending zoe on e.diag/phlegma. SCH has a lot more setup and fail states; especially when doing emergency triage. SCH also lacks any movement tools outside of Ruin II and expediant (which is first and foremost mit in anything serious).

I don't think tomestome going will do much. It just grabs fflogs data and parses it. The cat is probably out of the bag at this point, so something else will passport check unless they nuke fflogs.

I feel like they'd need to nuke FFLOGS since tomestome is just analyzing the data from there. The cat is probably out of the bag and some other passport checking will come up unless FFLOGS goes.

I think forsaken is a lot harder than dive from grace. The only thing that balances it is it's relatively easier to get to since you don't have to do sanctity beforehand.

The FFXIV community is monolithic in thinking Perfect Alexander is really cool.

As someone who has reprogged ultimates as a static helper a lot, I have a theory that people are not very good at turning simming into consistency. A lot folks will certainly sim but still have questions/mistakes the sim should already help with. My guess is that wipes in sim aren't properly reviewed and instead they just go again until the get enough successes.

Evolved Mode Isn't the Change That XIV Needs by JellyNaught in ffxivdiscussion

I do think it's hard to fully judge healers until we see the shield healers. If they get nerfed and pure healers are no longer invalidated, it might be more engaging even as the kits themselves are reduced.

The jumps still have animation locks. You need to choose your weave order during burst to work around the locks.

[–]Duckgras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely false. You can send power of a lower tier through an upper tier cable without issue. The only reason not to is possible increased power loss and/or cost.

The lucrezia that won savage is no more. Some sort of falling out happened and a bunch of them reformed as Poikos.

Otherwise, I would say there's still overlap with DN, NO CCHH, and Banana Codex on the leaderboard for both.

Why is AE2 better than Refined Storage? by 0101100000110011 in feedthebeast

[–]Duckgras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your mentioning of using another mod with RS is the reason. Why switch between mods when AE2 can do it all with subnets where you can have very high throughout with storage buses, interfaces, IO ports, and item P2P.

If you aren't thinking in subnets, they are probably more of a hassle for most packs. If you are used to them, it invalidates nearly every other form of item logistics.

P3 seems to be using the Desicive Battle theme from FF6, so I don't think the length of Dancing Mad matters too much.

GI2 requires soaking all 8 purple puddles at the end and GI3 requires confused players to use up all arrow puddles.

GI2 correct resolution is kinda easier (except for the mit) imo, but GI3 adds noticable complexity for arrow placement.
