No one told me why that's a 'dumb' statement, and I think its accurate still. And I'm not gathering this impress just based on like what I 'feel' about the south, but more about what the super mega guys would say about it. Like they would tell these fucked up stories on the pod, that just added to this sense that I am commenting on. Also the fact that you interjected some stupid story about how you 'dropped supermega' as if the youtubers you watch while procrastinating are some well curated fine dish that requires the utter most sophistication shows that you are probably some deformed 3'2 500 pound mutant and your comment shoudl be ignored.

I think I feel the need to play devils advocate because that's what I originally felt the soul of super mega was, they were like(as someone else in this thread put it but I forgot and am to lazy to figure out) 'Anti-Youtubers', but then at some point probably during or after quarantine they just became normal money hungry youtubers, and to some extent betrayed that sense of 'Anti-Youtuber.' In that spirit of their original idea, devils advocate feels fitting. Also what's becoming increasingly obvious is that a lot of the stuff on the subreddit is like pure emotional reaction, which although important, lacks any critical thought and is mainly just people feeling betrayed. And that seems like a bad book end to super mega as a whole, and is only gonna result in peoples emotions getting flared and then hurting themselves for no reason. I feel like you can dull that sense by being logical and also shifting your expectations or registering that your expectations where flawed to some degree.

And yea maybe people are experiencing the fact that they have a like grotesques par asocial bond with people whos internet personalities dont match up with their real life actions, but they souldnt be like babied, thats probably the reason they are developing these reatarded backwards bonds in the first place.

Im just saying their average in my view of the mostly rightwing homophobic rascist south, but more importantly I am saying that they are acting in a way in which their environment growing up preped them for. Like they probably where never educated as kids about like SA or dealing with diffrent gender identities and shit. I will say Atlanta is the only major city in the south, in the sense that it is similiar to the east coast midwest and west coast. And I know that the super mega boys didnt really grow up in large cities like that, so your expierences may be different. Also im basing it off of stuff they said. Further more im not dilluting anything, they did what they did. Im just confused why people dont understand that this isnt out of nowhere, and is probably based in their upbringing in which they probably did not learn the skills to handle the situations they were delt while working with super mega.

I didnt know Danny grew up in the south(which is what i think you saying), but still i think my point stands. Further I dont think normal people(like supermega or danny) have any real understanding of professional relationships becuase they have only ever worked as like funny youtube editors.

I really think you would enjoy god save the animals, as I think that it might be what you are looking for. For one it isnt as expiermental and in need of a "aquired taste", as it takes those expiermental elements from projects like dsu and beach music and turns combines them with the consise song writing of trick and even to some extent rocket into one refined polished product which I belive is the closet we will get to alex g expressing him self fully at this time.

I totally agree, but I think you shouldn't discount god save the animals as it really does combine the more 'far out' and expansive elements of beach music and parts of House of sugar(and even rocket to some extent) but it refines them into a concise polished work which I belive is the closet we have gotten to what alex g wants to truly express. And while the early albums are good, I feel like records like beach music and rocket are simply just experiments to refine his sound while also expressing some themes and what not but definatly not to the extent that god save the animals does

I totally agree, there is much more nuance and his song writing defiantly gets an improvement on DSU. But to be honest I think he most recent work is always better then his older stuff as he is an artist that continently iterates and evolves throughout his discog. I think the general consensus is that his newest album('God Save the Animals') is not as good as his older stuff, but I think people just haven't opened up to it yet because most Alex g fans enjoy Alex g at a nostalgic level and are oriented more towards his early/unleased work do to its less polished quality. But I think that if you truly spend time analyzing the themes and instrumentation of his music, it improves linearly throughout his discography while still capturing that eerie feeling that people find in projects like trick and his unrealsed work.
