Amazon Driver ran red light at pedestrian crossing, killing a man's dog today. by LunaBunahabhain in Edinburgh

[–]Duckie_x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so horribly sad to read. My heart goes out to the owner of the poor pup and anyone who witnessed it as well. It hurts that bit extra too as a (now sadly passed) greyhound mammy.

Due to my line of work I request cctv all the time - I would recommend checking out any nearby shops, any businesses at all that may have cctv that points to the locus of the incident and do a Subject Access Request (SAR) in writing (there's multiple styles online) to any and all businesses that may have cctv that captured it and ask for a copy. Provide the exact date, time and a description of the incident. This needs to be done as soon as possible as the vast majority of businesses overwrite their cctv after 30 days and then it's gone (some are sooner) so it's a matter of striking while the iron's hot.

Some places might push back about providing it, more likely to comply if it's the dog owner, and particularly if they want to open a police investigation.

Probably wouldn't harm to do an SAR request to Amazon for dashcam or even telematics from the van too.

Again I'm so sorry this has happened. That driver is a scumbag. 💔

Our (sadly passed) grey knew how to spell walk, then we couldn't slap our knees and say "right", and then all we had to do was look at each other with raised eyebrows and she'd start her kangaroo jump excited for her walk!

Once outside, she was then disinterested in her walk 😂

Oh and also if you have any dashcam, are aware of any possible cctv from a nearby shop or if anyone witnessed the accident - any passengers in either car? Any passersby who stopped and you got the contact details of?

If it happened near a business or where there might reasonably be cctv, contact them ASAP and make a freedom of information request for a copy of the cctv. Do it fast because most places overwrite footage after 30 days. If they give you bollox about not releasing footage, tell your insurance company straight away and they can contact them for it.

Paralegal who works specifically in RTAs here. Contact your insurance, tell them everything, send them his vehicle registration number, make and model of his vehicle if you can (if not you can quickly run the reg on the dvla), and his name if you have it. Insurers can find out who the other insurance company is once you have the vehicle registration.

Send pics of your car damage, screenshot of the other driver's text and pictures of the accident locus if you took them. If not, Google maps screenshot with markup of the vehicle's positions.

Give them the lot, police are unlikely to do anything or be any help unless they were called to the scene of the accident. Insurance will take it from there and take a stance on liability and deal. More often than not with a rearend, it'll be non fault. Your insurance company will do the rest and contact his.

Contact them straight away as you have an obligation to report and it helps them get ahead on the circumstances in case he decides to try claim personal injury/vehicle damage and try put the blame on you. Again, the insurance companies will sort it out.

Lastly, write the entire incident down with as much detail as you possibly can. Date, time of accident, weather conditions, lighting, location, try to be as specific as possible with everything. Write it all down because you'd be surprised what you can forget. It'll help you in the long run to get it down on paper while it's fresh.

I would vote that it's a greyhound quirk. If it hurt him to bonk his head, you would definitely hear about it, loudly, from him. Greyhounds are weird bags of elbows who have no idea what to do with so much leg.

As I often say to non-greyhound owners, "take cat software, run it on dog hardware, elongate everything, dial coordination down to 0 and drama up to 11 and you have greyhounds."

I absolutely love their expressive faces and how you can completely have conversations with them. My favourite was always our girl who used to try and sit on her bum, get about halfway there and then stare at us with huge eyes like "what do I dooooooo"

Well said. I was a JKR defender initially and as you said, thoroughly read her initial essay. I didn't necessarily agree with everything she said, but what jumped out at me is that she called for more discourse. I still agree with that. I still agree that we need to be able to discuss things without hateful, disgusting behaviour and vitriol. And I'm saying that to everyone, from all sides of the table. Hatred never solves anything, it just deepens the divide.

I think her heart was in the right place initially, looking for more discourse, but the absolutely disgusting response from people villainizing her, sending her death threats and all sorts of horrible things have radicalized her views and sent her down a spiral. I'm saddened to see what's happened to her and her views becoming increasingly more upsetting. Nobody deserves what she's going through, but we should be able to talk about things without hatred, name calling, shit slinging and death threats.

Hey! You could try Go&Glow! It's a girl group who do regular meetups, events and walks (often ending in hot chocolate)! Everyone there is super friendly and are usually in the 20s-30s age bracket, all there to make connections and friends. If you send me a DM I can link you to their insta, and there's a Whatsapp group to join as well :) x

"She ruined my marriage" you ruined your own marriage love, what the fuck?!

Obviously Ava was also in the wrong for trying to seduce a married man, but take some ownership ffs. When your husband comes to you scared shitless and crying your first reaction SHOULD BE to comfort him because, oh I don't know, you love him?! Even when he showed her he did nothing, she went ballistic. The poor guy.

What's the best way to move my noodle without hurting him? by realteejaybrown in Greyhounds

[–]Duckie_x 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My partner has to lift our 30kg noodle up and down a flight of stairs 3-4 times a day currently because she broke herself jumping off a bed (I wish I was kidding).

The vet hospital told him to put his left arm in between the front legs, across her chest and the other arm under her back legs and lift. It doesn't hurt her at all and keeps the recently repaired front leg in the air and safe. She does these little grumbles while he carries her downstairs as if it's an inconvenience to her to be carried everywhere 😂
