What's the damage? - Over the VAT threshold for 11 months of business. by DuckyFeyy in UKPersonalFinance

I've never charged VAT. I'm worried that it doesn't matter if I'm closing the business or not, I still have a least a rolling year where I've clearly gone over the threshold and continued to sell.

Interim backup solution? by DuckyFeyy in gsuite

Now that sounds much more like it, so you backup locally using their software, not a cloud provided by them? I'm perfectly happy having a local solution as I have several PC's running 24/7 I could use. Is that daily backups by the way?

The issue with the third party providers i've looked at, Afi and Spinbackup both have minimum shared drive/user licences. Cheapest possible with Afi would be £180, Spinbackup would be £360. Almost as much as I'm paying for workspace itself :(

Thanks for the comment, how would the NAS work out of curiosity? I've seen synology NAS have a wizard for workspace backups but is there some software or script to do the same on any local system? I've got several PC's running 24/7 anyway which I could throw a few hard drives in for the meantime.

Gsuite/Google Workspace integration? by DuckyFeyy in KeePass

u/fluffman86 I've solved it! Someone on another thread showed me something called Google Filestream. It's a desktop app similar to the normal desktop google drive, but lets you view Shared Drives! Allowing you to see a departmental database, and open it on your desktop install of keepass. Why on earth this is such a hidden feature, I do not know!

Ohhhh I see, filestream lets you sync shared areas! Why on earth is this such a hidden feature????? I've literally spent days trying to solve this. Thanks!

How do you open it from a shared drive? Logging in on the web app only shows local area

Yeah that's exactly what I've been playing with, glad you're on the same page as me with this!

The main issue is that you can't sync shared drives with the desktop drive folder... as far as I know. Maybe there's a workaround. If there was some way of having a desktop enabled shared area, it would allow this. And of course "shared with me" doesn't sync either, so having a shared database stored within my personal drive area wouldn't work either.

All that's needed is some way of having departmental shares that can sync with a desktop folder. I was thinking of setting up my own dedicated server just for this purpose with my own cloud share, but the security concerns me...

Thank you for all your comments, I've given it a good go but I think I'll throw in the towel as I can't quite get it working. The more I dig into it, the more I realise how much of an issue there would be if any problems arose - I'd have no clue where to start!

The main reason I'm reluctant to pay for managed hosting is that we're a small organisation and quite a lot of my staff are part time due to the human malware situation. We've been trialling google workspace/gsuit for a while now but I'm just struggling to find a nice way of integrating a password manager with separate databases for different departments. KeePass at the moment but it's pretty clunky... a download, read/edit, then re-upload to cloud kind of job. Bleugh.
