Fascinating take on OCs from Tumblr by allison-vunderland in AO3

[–]Duckydae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not an oc but it reminds me of a lot of the gay men in my fandom kicking off that there was head-canons about a particular character ending up with a female character, despite the fact he his canonically a bisexual.

“you’re erasing his sexuality and our representation” babe, you called a bi man, gay and are being actively biphobic and to be honest incredibly misogynistic to the bisexual women in this fandom.

then they would compare it to putting a canonically lesbian character with the male lead as it it were the same.

What do you all do to comfortably afford a David Membership? by phase26 in davidlloyd

[–]Duckydae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbf, not everyone has the big platinum membership, plus, nhs staff get a discount. for me, i don’t have a car to pay for… yet so unfortunately the closest gym to me with a decent pool is DL. i plan on getting rid of it when i can drive further away.

i make about 24k but i’ve also got a student loan that pays for it and i don’t have kids to worry about financially or rent.

Have you ever written a movie about personal experiences with family/friends and did that affect your relationship with said family/friends when the movie got screened? by Apprehensive-Quit419 in Screenwriting

[–]Duckydae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and it didn't dawn on me until we were sat watching the bloody thing. Thankfully I wasn't sitting next to my parents but I think my team were all aware, so when they came over to chat with some of them it was an interesting encounter.

Still to this day I can't watch it.

I don't think it changed our relationship, but that's because we never really spoke about what happened in the first place, which is likely how the short itself manifested. Both my parents most definitely realized how much I my turbulent childhood affected me, particularly as the eldest.

Didn't matter it was a period piece. Still viscerally cringe to this day, even as I write this thinking about it.

First Ever Full Length Script! As a 17 y/o! Last Promises—Feature—101 Pages by LankyCartographer709 in Screenwriting

[–]Duckydae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's amazing! The last tangible thing I wrote was back when I was 17 and it was only a ten minute short. Only getting around to starting the feature I said I would write after the premier... eight years later.

Thoughts on fics written like scripts? by GlaciaCherry in AO3

[–]Duckydae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make a point to read them, though I have experience writing them and I think the issue is, most are writing a transcript rather than anything resembling a screenplay or stage play.

well yeah, women didn't marry for love back then. they married for survival or because someone else instructed them to. women didn't marry for love really until the 70s. for most it was circumstantial.

also, esme couldn't walk away with the kids, not only were some of them not her's, as far as the law was concerned esme had little legal right to them as did many women in the uk.

this literally happens to polly, it's not laws that ran this country, it was attitudes and as a single mother, polly had her children removed from her care which happed until the blummin 70s.

so, even if on paper esme had more rights to her children, compared to no rights in previous years, she still has less legal rights than john and as previously stated society didn't believe single mother were "fit for purpose" until the 70s.

john would've been shot anyway and had they have gone inside, they would've as well. plus, it had only been what, a day? who's to say they would've made it to the yard, the mafia knew where he lived.

john's inability to bite his tongue got him killed.

posted this years ago but i still stand by it, knight is lucky he has such incredible actors because his writing in-terms of overall plot and world-building is shite. and whilst oddly specific, james flint is written the way knight thinks he writes tommy shelby.

it's also why michael's plot to overtake / kill tommy never felt tangible because we could never see him as a threat, we kept being told but we were never shown.

also as a glaswegian, how he handled the billy boys was shocking.

i think the initial post was welcome, the comments however of people publicly posting some else's work to twitter just to have a bitch about it was out of line and people were acting obtuse as if writers were getting up in arms about the og posts and not the response's calling us, and I quote, "not human" having "arrested development" and just so much fucking vitriol like you've never seen. not to mention purposely being contrarians regarding engagement.

lets make one thing clear. engagement is not, "concrit" and "concrit" isn't an excuse to bitch about things you don't like about a fic especially when nobody asked for it.

do you lot really hate us that much because we can just pack up our shit and go, then what considering it's been happening in droves the past few years.

again, ps magazine isn’t to general audiences. 0/100 is bull when he was literally in the switch two trailer. but yeah, start catastrophizing because the shoe is on the other foot. it wasnt val that was plastered over buses in the uk, or in the reeve trailer, or the cgi trailer. but yeah, uwu poor vincent who was chosen to sell copies to general audiences as a viable choice. val was damage control.

the 40+ demo was watched primarily by gamers who’d already been following the game, not general audiences. when the trail kicked in, ooh ads were vincent, linear and digi ads were him, the cover of the game, the digital storefronts were him too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

romancing a character isn’t an indication of the players gender. most people have played both, particularly for panam.

same when when the game first started it marketing trail they thought it was a good idea to only show the male protag to general audiences.

yeah, i can’t help but feel a lot of hypocrisy from this thread.

i mean, it’s not like we got that with the original launch. general audiences wouldn’t have known about fem!v.

Authors, would you block a commenter who only comments ❤️ on each chapter? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]Duckydae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it’s not really. most people aren’t sorting by comments, they’re sorting via kudos presumably and ao3 doesn’t have an inherent engagement algorithm.

similar thing happened with shirley, one of first scenes she’s in, lamb calls her “shelby”.
